I heard the other day that they’re not signatories of the ICC so don’t recognise its legitimacy. Which seems bonkers considering their role in the world.
You can’t really use it in isolated game situations IMO. Much better to look at the overall xG difference to judge whether a side is creating lots of chances or conceding lots of chances.
Said before, introduce an ‘umpires call’ equivalent. Stop pretending the tech is infallible and revert to the on-field decision when it’s marginal.
Obviously you’d then have to define ‘marginal’.
Regardless of the fact that’s not really linked to anything, the answer is not to kick everyone out, whether here legitimately or not, it’s to police it properly!
There’s clearly a bank of data suggesting that having everyone back for corners reduces the chance of conceding, but that almost becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy as all teams do it so your data pool for other approaches shrinks.
My gut feel is that after 75 minutes the result should stand, but only in instances where the abandonment is due to conditions. If it were protests, etc then you either replay or it’s forfeited.
2 reasons:
- Haji can play that left-sided role as effectively as EMC in my opinion.
- It would have given us a genuine chance at a succession plan.
I just feel Kone was underpriced when you compare to the type of winger we’d be paying out for. RW and ST would have been my ideal.
Performances clearly light years ahead of our start last season. I said after the Cardiff game (Lampard’s first) that I thought this is the style he wanted. Squad a little thin to be playing high-pressing football consistently though so there is a risk it drops off.
