Are you saying ticket price has no impact on attendance? Really?

A Coventry 'fan' who is perfectly able to afford to come on Saturday, lives locally, has no other family/work commitments or logistical issues to contend with, and chooses not to come isn't a "shit fan". That's ludicrous. That category might include plenty of people who have spent...

Who's justifying it. I could just as well say that you're trying to make people feel bad for not wanting to paying £24 to watch a game against Yeovil. It's a pointless argument. However I still think you're putting the cart before the horse here. If people are saying they can't or won't go...

    Winge winge Moan Moan......

I'd like to moan about the spelling. I'm pretty sure 'winge' should be spelt 'whinge'. ;)

    Yeovil Attendance

Again, it's impossible to deny that ticket prices have an effect on attendance. How much is debateable, but it will have an effect. There's also a reversal of logic here, imho. Any business that blames its customers for not buying its products is going to struggle. It's pointless having a...

    Yeovil Attendance

An absolutely fair point, but I think the question of whether £24/£26 represents value to watch a game of football in L1 is a matter of opinion. To you it does, but to me it doesn't. Entirely respect your point of view on this, but I think we'd have to accept that if we want more people in...

    ticket prices

Erm.. all other things being equal, if cheaper tickets didn't attract more fans then it would break pretty much every rule of economics I've ever learnt. Clearly even here there's enough evidence that some fans won't go to some games because of the cost of the tickets. Whether it would make...

    Yeovil Attendance

Couldn't agree more. I loved having a season ticket for all of the reasons you mention there. And personally, I think the walk-up charge is a rip off for exactly the reasons you state - I can't get out to get a ticket during the working week, and I like to get my ticket next to whoever's...

    ticket prices

Indeed, assuming you meet their credit rating, and are disciplined enough to set up and maintain an adequate repayment schedule, and that you don't get the urge to splurge on something else on the card too. Not everyone is, of course, which is how the banks make their money.

    ticket prices

As for the, it costs x amount elsewhere to watch L1 football so our prices are OK, argument - it's missing the point. It's not just about maximising revenue, it's about getting people through the door too. If you're losing fans because a significant number find it's too expensive for them...

    ticket prices

I never worked in marketing Stupot, but I've spent a lot of years working in banking, and particularly credit. Getting a 0% credit card to buy something that you couldn't otherwise afford isn't always a good idea. It is though, better than wonga. ;)

    Yeovil Attendance

Expensive is always to some degree in the eye of the beholder - but paying over £20 for a L1 football game is too much for me personally. That's a level at which I have to pick and choose the games I'm going to go to. At say £15, which feels like about the right price for L1 (again for me)...

    Scottish Independence

Good analysis that. Can I add though, that isn't an additional part of it something that I grumble about down here, that the Labour party in many people's eyes has moved so far to the right that it's lost a lump of it's left-leaning support? If you're against stuff like the bedroom tax, the...

    Jim O'Brien, eating batteries?

I'm an O'Brien fan too - I like how he's willing to take the ball in a tight space and try to use a trick to make a bit of room for himself. Valuable skill in a central midfielder I'd say. The other stuff, the sheer graft, and the willingness to try to get ahead of the strikers at times...

    North Stand back open..

Fair comment that - but I would have thought a fair few that were in the South stand on Friday would choose to go in there again, even with the CET stand re-opened. Does this mean that they are going to close block 11 again now then, or have I (once again) completely misunderstood?

    North Stand back open..

Personally I'm happy with this - I don't like the thought of not having fans behind both goals. It just seemed an odd solution to me, and one that was more about saving money than generating atmosphere Having said that, I really enjoyed my first time in the South Stand. Whether it would be as...

Anyone in to stocks & shares?

As with all gambling - I think the key is never bet more than you can afford to lose! ;) It's a big old world, stocks, and lots of players - with some big ones more than capable of manipulating the various markets I'd venture. If you don't mind my asking, are you using technical analysis...

    Anyone remember Rob Gurney?

I remember Rob Gurney's commentaries very well - always enjoyed listening to them. The telegraph bloke you're thinking of was Adam Dent, I'd venture. I've no problem with Clive Eakin, and I enjoy listening to the radio when he's on too, but I'm never quite sure why RG moved onto Brum. Did he...

Ah, it's very impressive, granted. But don't you find that the glue itches? ;) I shall print and frame that picture, and put it on the mantlepiece - it'll keep the kids away from the fire. :)
