Match Thread Coventry City - Norwich City Match Thread - Saturday 31st Aug

Think they are being a bit ambitious with that. Perhaps they were expecting the usual Friday boost, but appears hardly a seat sold today. I didn't expect high demand for this game. £62 for adult and child for a televised game against meh opposition, lots of people won't pay that. I think in...

Match Thread Oxford United (H) [LC] 27 Aug 7:45pm KO

Apart from last 5 minutes, there was almost zero jeopardy tonight. Very comfortable that. Need to move the ball quicker at times and 1st half was a bit flat with almost a pre season feel. Dominated 2nd half though and should have bagged a couple more. Job done.

Match Thread Oxford United (H) [LC] 27 Aug 7:45pm KO

Fair enough. If anyone had said a few years ago we'd be calling a gate of 26-27K 'poor' we'd have probably laughed at them. The point being, from a base of 21.5K, for cat A fixtures, given they are supposedly where demand is highest, they'd probably expect more. It might fill up as we get...

Match Thread Oxford United (H) [LC] 27 Aug 7:45pm KO

It is odd. League games I don't think are an issue, but tonight, when many might make a last minute decision to go, it is a recipe for very long queues.

Surprised to hear that, Norwich fan I was speaking to the other day said they'd only sold 900. Happy for him to be wrong though.

Match Thread Oxford United (H) [LC] 27 Aug 7:45pm KO

It's the league cup 2nd round. Still willing to bet it's higher than most of the all championship ties tonight. Sort of game where you might expect a big walk up, but with no print at home or potg, queues will be mad, people won't fancy that. I'd be more worried about sales for Saturday. Be...

    Midfield

Well, yes. Way too early to write us off. But, it seems to me most people are not doing that. We lost 5 of the last 6 last season, and were well beaten in all those games. The exception was a 0-0 draw at Blackburn where they had 30 goal attempts to our 6. We've hardly pulled up any trees this...

Match Thread Bristol City (A) 24th August 12:30 KO

Yeah, 2 games out of the 3 we've only had 2 efforts on target in 3 hours. Some very talented attacking players but there is a missing link atm. It will come, but midfield is a worry.

Same start as last season. Arguably better start last season (performance wise), the one game we lost (at Leicester) we played really well.

Match Thread Bristol City (A) 24th August 12:30 KO

A bit worrying that. We'll improve for sure, but we're some way off at the moment. We seem quite easy to play against, press high and we struggle to cope. Are we trying to play on the break? I can't really tell what the plan is, but midfielders sitting so deep it doesn't work. We went there...

    Bristol Away Tickets

Not sure it is that bad. Selling block N35 now which I assume is the last block they'd sell (could well be wrong though).

    Bristol Away Tickets

I'm not sure understand the objection to removing the 3pm blackout. Why would somebody be less likely to attend a televised 3pm game than a televised 12.30pm game, surely the opposite is true? Away fans more likely to go if it's 3pm and all those who work Saturday morning and kids who play...

    Bristol Away Tickets

It's very naive to think the regular 12.30 kick offs won't impact on away followings across the board this season. For many an away day is as much about the day out as it is the game itself. We're seeing signs of that already. Add the cost to this and the fact we took 2.5K there a few days ago...

    Safe Standing and Segregation

One thing they will rethink I imagine is the outdoor smoking areas. Home and away fans just a few feet away from each other. Was a bit interesting shall we say.

    The CBS!

Are we saying a steward should make the determination on whether someone is over 14 based on how they look? It also appears the benchmark last night was 16. The parents have purchased a ST for their son, that's their decision, verified their age with a birth certificate and there are no...

    The CBS!

It's how you police this though, because it seems to be on the whim of a steward. My lad is 15 and was denied entry. Luckily I was a few minutes behind him so he could wait, but often it will be the other way around. He's 16 in a few weeks and won't look any older. Seems to be a recipe for...

Cheers Pete. Difficult one to police, my lads mate is 15 but looks a bit younger. We certainly don't want to discourage groups of school pals going to games together.
