    Parking

Yep - well aware! I'll wear my fastest ones!!! It used to be really handy that the people who operated the site at the top end of Blackburn Road used to let you cut down to the canal through their yard for 50p on matchdays. Miserable buggers have built on it!

    Parking

There are no Arena zone signs on Streetview like on all the residential streets. I'll give it a go tomorrow and report back keep it to myself if it is still free! Just a short walk through Sowe Valley Park (or something) then the bridges over the canal and railway into the North side of the CBS.

    Nottingham Serious Incident

They had him in their care, then they let him slip through their fingers, probably through being over-stretched rather than lazy, but you never can tell. Horrific. The public inquiry can't come soon enough.

    Things that annoy you

Olympic diver Noah Williams being interviewed on the radio this morning said "I haven't really seen my parents much slash at all since i got back". The oblique stroke (or slash in modern parlance) is a punctuation mark to replace the word "or" in written texts. If you mean "or"when you are...

    Sky Stream

I've had Sky Stream for a while. You don't actually record anything, unlike SkyQ or YouView, etc, so i am still trying to get used to it. I don't have sports or movies, but it works fine with the regular channels and streams Prime and Netflix with no issues.

Annecy is beautiful - we make an overnight stop there when we are going skiing, and it is lovely in winter. We went to Budapest when they they were just setting up for the Christmas market, but it was fucking freezing!!

    The holiday 2023 thread

I like Brugge/Bruges as a city to go for three days or so, but can't see a Christmas market being any different to most cities, tbh.

    The holiday 2023 thread

Most towns in northern France have some sort of market with a few more actual market stalls to buy stuff than Birmingham, which is exclusively beer, gluhwein, sausages and pissed-up chavs. Arras is a lovely city and their christmas market is pretty good. Only an hour from Calais, so can be done...

    The Olympics

Just that they clearly don't have a clue what is going on, and trying to use the jargon makes them sound ridiculous

Zagreb is a fantastic city to spend a long weekend, but it's difficult to find flights from the UK, so it ain't cheap, sadly. EDIT - not able to comment on Christmas markets there

    The holiday 2023 thread

I think most people are aware of it just from being the airport for the resorts on the Costa del Sol which got a bad rep for boozed up Brits, but my ex-boss moved there so i know more about the city and sounds great.

    Death List 2024

TBF, it's his family who have reported him as having taken his own life, having had a number of significant attempts in recent years. Haunted by his demons, it would appear. Sad.
