Match Thread Millwall FC - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 7th Dec

I'd go: Dovin MVE Thomas Kitching Binks Eccles Sheaf Torp Rudoni Simms EMC - Going to be very physical which are the games Saka tends to struggle in - Allows Rudoni & Torp to cut into the half-spaces on their stronger foot - Binks to drop into a 3 in possession - Hopefully we've worked on...

    Transfer Rumour Kai Wagner

The point of 3-2-5 build up is that you have a solid central base of 5 players able to stop transitions when you lose the ball

Right who's the next manager then?

RVN looks like it was a ploy by his agent to show Burnley/Leicester that he's willing to take over if they sack Parker/Cooper. Robbie Keane was at the England game yesterday. Would be surprised if he hasn't applied/been interviewed.

    Frank Lampard Rumours

Fairly uninspiring. His Derby team were mid table statistically - doesn’t suggest he’s an elite coach. Can only hope he’s been trying to improve during his time out. Coaching has changed significantly in the last 5 years. Young forward thinking coaches like McKenna, Maresca, Hurzeler are...

    Frank Lampard Rumours

If Luton sacked Edwards and got Lampard would you be worried? I’d be thinking they could go down and they’ve made a mistake. If it is him let’s hope he’s done some Brendan Rodgers soul searching (between Reading and Swansea) and become a better manager in his time out.

OFFICIAL: Mark Robins has been sacked

We've had a shit, inconsistent start. Nobody can deny that. I have doubted Robins this season, especially with Adi leaving, as his career without him hasn't been great. However, we have a clear issue in the lack of experience and leadership in our squad. We can't control games for long enough...

Right who's the next manager then?

Bloomfield has a few good months at a lower level - rest is mid-table results. Doesn't feel like that is good enough. I know Stoke are a basket-case but Schumacher won League One with Plymouth (ahead of Ipswich) and got them looking good in this league - and he failed. Seems like going for the...

Rhys Carr - Interim Head Coach

Probably irrelevant but I'm suprised it is not Boateng as he was interim head coach of Ghana when Hughton was sacked

Right who's the next manager then?

If we don't have someone lined up fairly sharpish it makes the sacking a bit weird after 2 wins in 3

Right who's the next manager then?

God I don't have faith in Doug & Co to hire the right manager based on the coaching appointments. Need someone from Europe like Sheff W & Sunderland managers.

Does the new formation change January targets?

People are far too hung up on the fees for EMC & Kitching. Robins' job is to make sure we get as many points as possible. Should he drop Kitching for Lati because he cost £5m? If he plays EMC does he drop Wright, Simms, BTA, or Rudoni - who will then become the £X worth of talent our club is...

Does the new formation change January targets?

On Saturday we played a lopsided 3-5-2 where MvE was more of a RB and Rudoni was more of a LM. Binks constantly came across to cover the LB space and Eccles to cover the RM space. People are worried about the wingers but they showed where they are likely to play. EMC can cover Rudoni (against...

    Luis Binks

Don’t think our squad is disjointed. A lot of teams are now playing with a back 4 with a centre back as a full back that becomes a back 3 in possession anyway. Wouldn’t surprise me if we see Binks at LB in the future to do this as well

Match Thread Middlesbrough - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 2nd Nov

I would start Rudoni at LWB for the next few games. The current successful 3-5-2/3-4-3 teams (Sporting/Leverkusen) play wingers/midfielders in the wing back position, not full-backs, as they can get you up the pitch better. It's not like Dasilva is solid defensively anyway so I don't think it...

    Counter Attack

Do we need to go back to counter-attacking football? 1. We’ve played our best championship football under Robins this way 2. Defence is shite so we need more numbers back 3. Midfield is getting overrun and can’t control a game anyway 4. Forwards are more suited to running into space 5...

Match Thread Coventry City - Swansea City Match Thread - Saturday 21st Sep

We played it for 20 minutes against Norwich and it’s the worst we’ve been this season

    Josh eccles

What I like about Eccles is that he improves a bit every season. Last season the stats show he was an above average championship midfielder but a bit behind the top bracket where Sheaf was. Hopefully he can make that step.

    Concerns over the club's direction......

Every recruitment department has misses. Not every signing can be amazing. We’ve spent £40m and have £50m+ worth of talent in 4 players (Sheaf, Wright, Simms, MvE) plus an entire squad that we’ve not had since promotion to the championship of young players whose values will increase. I’ll...

    Xg table

I’m a big xg advocate but not after 5 games. We’ve yet to play a side who are favourites to be in the top 6 at the end of the season. The next international break is when data will begin to take shape.

    Ephron Mason-Clark

Think he needs to get used to the speed of championship football. Got the ability. A few times has been a split second too late on a shot or cross and defenders have recovered. Would’ve been fine in League 1 but not in this league.
