Armstrong won't be playing tonight. More info on new link -

""It's a massive move for me. I'll be putting in 100% in every game for the club." - Coventry City's Adam Armstrong

The 18-year old striker is eager to take his chance with the Sky Blues following his loan move from Newcastle United...
Coventry City's new loan signing Adam Armstrong believes his move to the Sky Blues 'is massive in my career'.

The Sky Blues snapped up the highly-rated 18-year old on a youth loan deal ahead of the 2015/16 League One season.

The England Under-18 international has already made 19 appearances for Newcastle United, after making his debut for the club at the age of 16.

After signing for the Sky Blues, Armstrong expressed his delight at the loan move and hopes to show City fans 'what he's all about'.

The striker said: "I'm delighted to get it done as it is massive in my career. It's a big move and I can't wait to get started.

"I want to progress during my time here and do really well for the club. I like to think I'm quick and got a few skills about me.

"I've got an eye for goals and I want to score a lot of goals for the club. I've got to claim my place in the side first but that's the aim.

"I'm really looking forward to the start of the season against Wigan Athletic and can't wait to get started."

Armstrong won't be available for tonight's pre-season match against Cambridge United but could play a part against Oxford United at Nuneaton Town on Saturday.

The young striker has a fantastic goal-scoring for England at Under-17 and Under-18 level, and he believes it has been a valuable experience.

He added: "There's no secret to the record really. When you've got the three lions on your crest, I suppose it's a bit different.

"No matter what age group it is, it's massive to play for your country and I always try and do well for England.

"It's been a great experience but you need to put 100% into every single game you play, whether it's for club or country.

"That's what I want to bring to Coventry. I'll be putting in 100% for the club in every game as I want to take this chance."

been waiting all day to hear this, bit sad its onky 6 months, but hopefully can extend it to the full season, but good we've finally added a bit of pace to our strike force, all we need is a winger and another forward and i can see us doing well this season, welcome adam #PUSB

Will he have been promised a starting role? Cannot imagine Newcastle loaning him to us for him to be on the bench!?

@KieranCrowley1: Great signing for #CCFC! The club beat Championship clubs to his signature so again, don't underestimate the allure of Tony Mowbray. #PUSB

Only slight downside is it is only 6 months, I imagine the plan is to move him into the championshipin January if he performs well.

Am delighted with this signing, saw this lad come on as sub for newcastle last season his movement and pace is superb and he can finish to.

I am shocked we have got him but very happy at the same time. My only concern if there is one is that he gets us in to the top 6 with his goals and newcastle decide they need him back and we stutter to a mid table position as a result.

i urge all fans to get behind this guy like he is a local hero as that is the only impact we can make on him and might make him want to stay.

I was suprised when he was quoted as a number 10. From reports I have read and the few times I have seen him play, he appears more of a poacher, running off the back of defenders.

If that is the case, there is no reason him, Madison and Lameiras cannot play together - Armstrong up front, Madison number 10 and Lameiras on the wing. I personally would not play all three, at least at the beginning of the season, due to their lack of experience, age and physical statures. But it should alleviate any concern the signing will restrict our permanant players progress.

Regardless, he is a very good signing, sure he is young, but has bags of potential and sounds eager to prove himself - a winning combo......

Whilst we may have a league 1 side we have tony mowbray who is a championship manager. He could be a god here that we are all crying out for. Adam Armstrong will get more from coming here to "Coventry" wth mowbray as manager than say a Huddersfield with whoever in charge in my opinion.

This is why the deal is 6 months if he does well then he will go and a championship club will come in for him like a derby did with bamford.

It's just depressing when people say no offence ( when there is offence) and they say that we should be grateful to get a Newcastle youth player on loan.. Just rams it home how far we have dropped

Agreed, even if we were in the Championship signing a player who's played 15 Premier League games at 18, profilic at youth and U21 levels and being touted around as the next Shearer of Gazza, it'd still be a good signing. To get a player of that calibre at a League One team is a good signing imo.

I get what you mean, but it really doesn't affect me like that. It's more when I ask my mates who they've got this weekend and it's Utd, arsenal or Chelsea and then they ask me the same and I reply... Rochdale!

I agree that hurts.....but when I find out that none of them got to their glory hunting games and I experienced the highs or lows with my beloved sky blues I know where I would be....travelling home on the M69 with my son discussing all the near misses, Bad tackles and dodgy refereeing decisions

I'm not convinced myself. Not saying the lad is crap heck I've never seen him play but we need goal scorers and he seems a more James Madison type of height and player and is only 18 and will get shoved off the ball like madderz does.

Not saying he is a bad player to reiterate but I think we need now a target man and some muscle upfront. Feel more confident then.

And that is why youre not a football manager

To be fair there must be hundreds of us who doubted he'd have the attributes to lead the line at this level.................truth is his size hasn't mattered too much so far as no one can get near him !!
