Forgotten disaster isn't it? No one ever talks about it. It's the reason we didn't get into Europe after our Cup win.

Thirty years ago today.

I wouldn't say forgotten but yes it doesn't get the publicity as, say, Hillsborough.

I have mixed thoughts on Heysel, first and foremost NO-ONE should ever die whilst attending a football match and the sight of the Juve fans being crushed to death is horrendous.

The part that I have mixed feelings about is the action of the Scousers, by all accounts the Juve fan were attacking and slashing anything that resembled a Liverpool fan (and yes I know this was in retribution for what the Scousers had done to them a couple of years before) before the match, then they get into the ground and it was constant again with rocks and everything else being thrown at them so a bunch of them mobbed up and counter charged the Juve fans who turned and ran which resulted in the crush happening and the wall collapsing.

I'm not sure if I was in their position I would have acted any differently. Unfortunately this, coupled with the decrepit ground and lack of proper segregation, caused this tragedy.

From a selfish point of view it cost us big time and who knows what would have happened from that point of view but it pales into insignificance compared to the fans who lost their lives that day.

The Italians are generally bad news when it comes to football and not the bravest when the numbers are equal ! Their favourite trick is stabbing people in the buttocks, cowardly fecks !

Have you ever watched much football in Italy? Met many Italians? Yet more generalisations and xenophobia on this site.

I suppose it important to remember that these sorts of disasters are why a football is a safe family environment (at least in this country) nowadays.

Almost ironic with everything that's happening with FIFA at the moment. British football reformed itself brilliantly to solve the hooligan problem, gives hope that FIFA can one day reform itself to solve the corruption problem.

There is also a worldwide hooligan problem they don't to worry about but as soon as anything happens here you never hear the end of it from them.

i have been to the Milan derby in the early 90's and would recommend it to anybody a brilliant event and crazy atmosphere, I was in the lower their and looked at the seats which were all burnt and St kick off realised why I have never seen so many flares which when finished they drop out of the higher tiers into the lower ones. It was bit tasty outside and before I went in I saw a fan trying to climb the round towers to get in getting wacked by the police with big sticks!

As as in any country there are idiots who want to cause trouble.

I disliked them intensely back in the day, always the most obnoxious visitors to HR in my opinion. Irritating chip on the shoulder mentality. I hated them for ruining our Europeon chance but there is logic in the earlier post. Nobody in those days stood and let people chuck rocks at them. It was after all an accident I guess.

What ever anyone thinks, I still blame Liverpool fans for never allowing me to see my team play in Europe.
