There's a few good shouts. Since robbie Keane has already been mentioned, I'll say Ndlovu for sheer class.

With Malaka on this one, Dion was a leader, goalscorer, centre half, true talisman.

As much as Nilsson was a great player. Brian Borrows was excellent and would be ahead of him Imo.

Depends what you are looking for, influence or just ability. The one world class I have seen is Roland Nilsson. The best ability wise Tommy Hutchison although Ian Gibson ain't far behind. The one who got fans of all ages off their arses was George Hudson, scorer of goals, sublime skill. But then there's George Curtis who played a pivotal role in the climb from the fourth, third, second and into the first division and despite breaking his leg badly in only our second match in that division, he came back the following Easter and was again pivotal in us scrambling clear of the drop by the skin or our teeth. So taking all that into consideration it's Curtis for me.

Has to be Tommy Hutchinson for me!

Tommy Hutch on the wing, Colin Stein at centre forward and Bill Glazier in goal. Chris Catlin at left back and Jeff Blockley at centre half. Willie Carr and Ernie Hunt to support Stein. Roy Barry and Mick Coop defenders and and Mick Maguire and Dennis Mortimer as midfielders.

What a team that would have been.

Speedooooo, absoulute genius and a nasty little xxxxxx, is my favourite, but players like Hutchinson, Steve Hunt, Gallagher ,Nuddy, Dion were exceptional talents.

I disagree with Fernando that he would be ahead of Roland, however an excellent player none the less. Not particularly sure how we managed to keep hold of him to be honest.

Good shout, not sure I could seperate them myself. Dublin was probably the other in that league in my lifetime, outstanding up front and at the back, should've played more for England (as should Borrows for that matter).

Got to have Danny Thomas in there surely?

I started going in 86 so Speedie was the first big signing I remember, cracking player. Gallacher was always a favourite of mine and Ndlovu was always exciting when he got the ball. After that it was Hucks and Dion. Keane was obvioulsy a fantastic player but not really here long enough to be a legend. In recent years struggling to think of anyone to be honest. The likes of McGoaldrick and Wilson have left too quickly to really be termed favourite players or the best.

At the back probably Big Mo and Keogh are the only two that stand out in recent years, think they were just exciting as they had no problem with going head down charging forward rather than skill level!

Fans were devastated when Hudson left but I never saw him play. Ian Gibson had outrageous talent but I thought the first time I saw Keano that he was the best player I have seen at city. He should never have gone to Milan. Both he and us would have been better had he stayed.

Having said this George Boateng ran Keano very close.

More for longevity and the utmost professionalism really (not that Roland Nilsson didn't show that anyway).

My favourite team since first watching City in 1967 was the Fergie- Wallace team of the late 70's. We were just fantastic to watch and played the most exciting football I have ever seen us play. In one game that season we played a formation that was virtually 244 with Hagan and Holton as the only defenders plus Blyth in goal. The full backs were pushed into midfield and our wingers were wide alongside Fergie and Wallace. I loved that team. My best eleven are heavily influenced by this team not necessarily the best in their position but the ones I have really enjoyed watching.

My favourite all time player is Tommy Hutchison, who truly deserved the nickname "Mr Magic", given to him by Derrick Robins. A wonderful player who was worth the admission money on his own.
The best game I ever saw was a night game against Man City, better in my opinion than the famous Christmas game against Norwich that same season. Man City were league leaders and unbeaten at the time. We twice came from behind and absolutely battered them. I honestly believe that with the second half performance we would have beaten Brazil that night (1970 vintage, not last years team!) Happy days!

For me it has to be George Hudson closely followed by Tommy Hutchinson. The shower we've got now should search out footage of both of these legends and look and learn !

Lloyd McGrath all day long for me. Not particularly subtle, not technically gifted, but the heart and soul of the team that won the cup and utterly, utterly fearless. You could see that he loved playing as well - that rare thing, a footballer who actually played with a smile on his face.

Huckerby speedie big Cyril, nuddy ,Dublin, Gallagher , I liked John Williams as well the fastest postman in the west. Also really loved me the babb and atherton partnership and lee hurst (can't remember if that's how you spell the hurst) had so much potential

Ndlovu for me, i can still remember watching him before the match doing kick ups and skills in the warm up and some of the solo goals he pulled out the bag made him my childhood idol. But could easily throw in a host of players from my younger days....Robbie Keane, Dublin, Hadji, Whelan, Huckerby. Its a tough one but ill stick with nuddy

Hutchison even.

Hutchison is the best player we have had since promotion to the top flight.

There isn't a contest really.

I find it really hard to put one player at the top as being an oldie on here I've seen some great players, unfortunately in the distant past.

Hutchinson's long legs going past players on the wing like they never were there sticks in the mind, as do full backs Mick Coop and Chris Catlin and Dave Clements who were fantastic defenders, as was Trevor Peake at his best.

I loved Ernie Hunt and Willie Carr , our best keeper I feel has been Bill Glazier. More recent Robbie Keanes short spell doesn't deserve to go ahead of the one's I mention ,but still holds great memories.

The striking partnership of Ferguson and Wallace was our best front pairing I feel.

I just cant pick our best player, sorry, I certainly can pick our worst, that's easy

So for us who have seen a very good Cov side its soo hard putting one name at the top

I agree. Hard working, committed but above all fantastic skill. I can't see us ever having a player as good as Tom again.

cant belive no one has said cyrille regis...... what a player should have played many more times for England than just 5, could do everything head use his chest shoot, when he would bring the ball down on his chest and turn and go like a rocket nothing was stopping him. only blot on his copy book was going you know where and scoring a goal you know when . also liked George botang too.

Speedie was best ever for entertainment, Lloyd Mcgrath for commitment and have to respect the 3 man team of Oggie, Stewart Robson and Kevin Gallacher who kept us in the top flight - A true back bone of a team.
