No, 'wasters' in worse, maybe just go with 'players'.

I hope the team proves me wrong .but I have a feeling its going to be a hard long season .not sure the quality is there and we have sold the best players.I think relegation depends on playing at sixfeilds or Ricoh.

Not having a go but how much do you really know about the new players? There are also potential new signings we haven't heard about yet. I won't make my mind up until about 10-15 games into the season, personally.

I'm the opposite. This is the best business We've done since we've been relegated signing players who are solid at this level rather than signing players with no English experience a la Malaga/Edge.

Anyone that can should edit it to keep this thread current and the first post as a reference point. We should do one each transfer window.

Seems we've signed loads of players, but we're really only one player up on last season.

Have we not also lost some loan players such as Nathan Delfouneso, Dylan McGeouch, David Prutton, Nathan Eccleston and Anton Robinson? These players would have freed up some cash for wages.

6 Permanent Out, 4 In
5 Loan Out, 2 In
7 Second Year Apprentices Released, 6 First Years Signed
3 Apprentices Promoted To 1st Team

We're definitely running lighter, but to be honest, the squad doesn't seem to have been harmed too much, just waiting on the strikers.

And Mark Marshall

Difficult to judge as we've not seen much of any of them. My mate, a Leeds fan, says Pugh is a solid addition: "a regular 7/10 every week" was his response.
The most significant departure and lack of replacement for me is Joe Murphy.

I think its telling that the players "out" have nearly all gone to higher league teams and the new recruits are free transfers from teams who in some cases are higher in the league structure than us but have not deemed them good enough to retain their services.
Secondly to that we had a small squad last season and so far its looking just as threadbare.

Moussa came from a higher league team where he was deemed not good enough. As did McGoldrick and Clarke.

Johnson - still wanted by Wednesday fans
O'Brien - turned down offers to join us
Swanson - turned down offers to join us
Pugh - a quality replacement for Adams. Very consistent
Allsop - first choice with Bournemouth as try got promoted
Coulibaly - unknown entity. If we can get him fit, he'll be an assert
Miller - get him fit, he'll score goals
Tudgay - high quality striker

Mark 82 and FRY-CCFC while I so hope your optimism is justified, I do have my doubts over some of the quality in vs the quality that has departed.
My main concern is goals from midfield and the forward line: Swanson got 2 in 35 appearances for Peterborough last season and Jim o'brian 7 goals in 123 apps for Barnsley this is nothing to get excited about when you think Moussa got 12 goals in 39 last season alone! Coupled by the lack of real quality up front now as our two best forwards and definitely our most productive partnership in a while in Clarke and Wilson have both now left. Tudgay 5 years ago was a 1 goal in 4 player for Sheff Weds but look at his stats for forest 1 in 6 with a very slightly better return than that while on loan at Barnsley where he played only a handful of games. As for Miller his stats again are poor 4 in 28 in league 1. He did show potential as a younger player at Crew but in the last 4 years he has gone firmly backwards as a player. I am not saying either or of these 2 will not get 10-15 goals but when you look at the goals from last season they need to replace I hope you can see my fears in the "goals for" column esp with the midfield goals we now are without.

As for Johnson - "still wanted by Wednesday fans" I have a good friend who is a ST holder and he said ok for L1 but clumsy and a player they could replace. He has been watching them for 30+ years so I kind of believe him on that and if he was so good and in demand how did we become his best option?

As for Pugh I am delighted and he will be an upgrade, but our defence is so slow we will concede a worrying amount of goals again this season and may not win games 3-2 this year due to the lack of offensive guile and pace.

In summery I feel sorry for SP who will have to get players playing above themselves to ensure we are mid table and frankly for CCFC we deserve far better than a League 1 mid table. With 3 weeks to go am still hopeful we actually will spend 500k on a proven or high goals to games ratio player from L2 or a foreign league but I am not getting my hopes up too high.

PUSB and i sincerely hope I can laugh at this post come the end of the season.

What staggers me is that we seem to have got ourselves into the position where no one is surprised by yet another diminution of our footballing status by losing the likes of Murphy, Moussa and Wilson. Their replacements are not of the same quality and the squad, as it stands, is unlikely to get us promoted.

When you consider Coventry is the 10th largest city in England with a population of nearly 330,00 - and there is only one league team within that city - and we are still playing in the third tier of English football, in a "home stadium" 35 miles away you really have to wonder when we'll all wake up from this collective nightmare.

It is complete and utter madness.

You make it sound as if people like being that way. I don't, and I'm pretty sure everyone else doesn't. But I understand that's where we are at the moment, we can't go out and spend half a million on a player. It won't change until something drastic happens. People are trying their best to make that happen, I don't really see what else can be done, bar taking those involved hostage (and I'm not encouraging that)!

So, six out and ten in so far. Still think we need another couple.

Would that be an extra 2 out? Trying to think back to who we had end of last season!

Prutton and Delfounseo played for us on the last game of the season, McGeouch was on the bench and Eccleston came off the bench for the last 10 mins.

Not sure if there was more than 4.

Telegraph has all the ins and outs in the pull out feature yesterday, I think we're about 4 players down on where we were. (Maybe 3 now McQuiod has signed)

I notice Pressley says he's no longer after a midfielder as he'll be playing 352 and is looking for a CB and a striker still.

We've no chance have we? 4 players down on last season's woefully small squad

Well, you could look at it this way: we're 3 down (with McQuiod) and we've promoted 3 academy players (Finch, Haynes, Lawton) to pro contracts. So we have the same number of pros. Plus players like Thomas and Maddison from the U18s will be in and around the squad this year.

But yeah, we're no better off than last season in terms of numbers really. Still 2 signings to make according to Pressley, a CB and a ST. Plus the loan market it out there (if we've got any cash for wages left).
