Text messaging has been a very popular form of communication nowadays. Most teenagers and adults rather sent their friends a few words over their phone then actually dial a number and speak to them.

Along with communicating via text allot of people also use texts for a number of other things ! Sending sweet nothings to a lover ect ect

But dumping someone by texts has become allot more popular these days, I have been dumped by text as well as dumped someone myself, (cringe)

So have you ever dumped or been dumped by text ? Is there a right or wrong way to dump someone by text? ( i used the "i dont think this is working line" ) And felt kinda bad for it afterwards !!

I have been dumped by text. It is definitely a faceless way to do it, and I would avoid doing it myself. I think by doing things in person or at least by call leaves the dumped and dumper with some digninty.

Next time just make them feel real bad by turning up with a gift and saying you never received the text. Then break down hysterically in front of them and threaten to kill yourself. Or is that too much? :)

Never had to pleasure or experience in being dumped or dumping by text, FB etc. Its a bit heartless in my book! Just dont call them and they are surely going to go away, better still move home and they wont know where you have gone! :p

For me txts are just for quick messages like arranging events, what time etc. Many of my txts are one line or one word replies.
I would never dream of sending a serious, relationship changing message. I would rarely do serious conversations by phone either.
I talk to people face to face or I remain silent and inscrutable. I see no advantages to "conversations" by txt except for basic interactions.
I guess I am in a minority but these interactions seem trivial and unsatisfactory. I'm sure that's why you lot are glued to your phones & blackberries all day. You have a craving for real connection but are being fed a diet of trivia, gossip and superficiality.
Chuck it in a drawer! Go out for a walk in the country with a loved one.

So true!! Mind you, I'd be lost without my mobile (no bugger phones me though! I just get loads of jokes via texts!) :p

Well said that man, phones have killed the art of conversation. How often do you go to the pub and people are texting other people who are not there. It is so rude. I once was seeing someone who I did the majority of the relationship texting and then when we actually spent time together I found that she couldn't hold a conversation. It was totally boring and I got rid straight away.

Still though I love my phone and if I didn't have it you wouldn't be getting this reply right now :)

Sadly its just the way of life these days. I'm stuck to mine, and feel lost if I haven't got someone who i regularly text just to whittle away the hours. Sad isn't it when you think about it.

Well not being an expert in these matters, a person who wishes to end a relationship in this way has a reason to end it this way if you get what I mean.

There could be many reasons to do it this way......

So I guess i would do it if and thought it best for ME, it does not make you a bad person for doing it, just a decision maybe based on good reasons and a way ahead.

So what if it safer for the person to do it over text ?

I mean you do get violent partners ,

And myself personally would sooner dumb some guy via text rather than get a slap or something thrown in my direction ? Would that still make a person a coward ?

It makes the bloody partner a coward. Geez, i cannot ever understand someone who hits women. Its really a bit sad if you feel you have to do that to feel a bigger man.
