Emails to The Football League (1 Viewer)

Myself and a lot of CCFC fans are emailing The Football League to voice our concerns and anger at the current situation. Here is my email to The Football League:

Football League,

I am writing to you to voice my disgust and dispair at the situation at Coventry City Football Club (CCFC). I am sure you are aware of the situation at CCFC and the impact it is having on our beloved football club and it's loyal fans. I am merely 17 years old but already CCFC has become my life. Nothing means more to me than CCFC. To see the treatment given to CCFC by it's owners, hedge-fund SISU, is heart breaking, not only for me, but for the many thousands of loyal Coventry City FC fans, who have been ignored by SISU and The Football League for too long. We will not stand by and watch our beloved club fall to pieces at the hands of our neglectful owners. The Football League has been quick to take action against CCFC when SISU have failed to file accounts, but refuse to help when we need them. SISU are not fit and proper owners. They dont file our accounts properly, they neglect the fans and never take our views into account, they refuse to invest money into the playing squad and take as much money out of our club as possible. For example, Last summer, we sold a number of our high profile players, including Richard Keogh and Gael Bigirimana, and brought in around £3,000,000 in transfer fees, yet SISU gave us £250,000 to spend in the transfer market, despite the major need for investment. They have also refused to pay the rent on our home stadium, The Ricoh Arena, and are trying to take our club out of its city. They are now embroiled in a legal battle with Arena Coventry Ltd. (ACL) over a longstanding debt which the club and its fans are paying dearly for. They are also developing plans to build a new £40,000,000 stadium in a move to keep away from The Ricoh Arena and the debt, £40,000,000 that the club do not have. The money will likely be taken from their creditors in The Cayman Islands. This move will plunge CCFC into more fincanial ruin, with this move doubling our debts. Our new Administrator, Paul Appleton, has been worse than useless since his appointment, by SISU may i add. Despite hard evidence that the 'Golden Share', an integral part in any potential deal to sell the club, is in Coventry City Ltd. Mr. Appleton has stated he is yet to find it's wearabouts, despite The Football League stating that the Golden Share is with Coventry City Ltd. Mr. Appleton was appointed by SISU and has so far only made decisions that benefit SISU and not CCFC. There are also reliable rumours that Mr Appleton has been working with the husband of the owner of SISU on a number of occasions, which could indicate a biased stance by Appleton towards SISU. SISU have also voiced a desire to buy back CCFC Ltd. , but the fans believe any move by SISU to buy CCFC Ltd. should be blocked by The Football League. SISU have also voiced their future plans for the club, including the new stadium, which should not be allowed, as SISU are currently not in control of CCFC Ltd. and have no legal right to plan ahead for its future. This situation is distressing the many thousands of CCFC fans and as of yet, The Football League have done very little too help our club, which The Football League has a duty of care over. I therefore as The Football League, not only to clarify the whereabouts and the situation with regards to the Golden Share, but to help CCFC and its fans in any way possible during this unbearable time.

In summary, i wish to inform The Football League of SISU's shortcomings as CCFC owners, the awful situation they have put us in and our disgust that The Football League has not officially intervined. I look forward to your reply.

Yours Faithfully,

Liam Cook

Great to see people taking affirmative action. As I said before I e-mailed well over a year ago my concerns, not only that but spoke to a guy within the league in person - Nice guy.

Sadly he told me there is very little they can do. As the club is in admin, they will not get involved in any legal issues (they leave that to the courts). They can and will only rule on matters directly relating to breaches of law.

As currently this is in dispute, they WILL NOT get involved. Also wrt the administrator, it is pointless asking him questions about his research, as no doubt he will claim he needs to thoroughly assess where the assets are and when if at all they were transferred.

The other administrator Mr Guylfoyle(sp?) has based his assumptions on a standard company (I could be wrong, but I'm guessing he hasn't been given access to the books and can base his assumptions on public domain info). As anyone who has researched sisu as I have will know, it is their modus operandi to confuse and mislead in their dealings.

Even amongst the financial world they are infamous for their slight of hand. It is nothing for them to set up several companies to move money around, and generate convenient losses to offset tax in more profitable sides.

Cannot say they have done this here (I haven't seen the books), but their track record IS well known, and whilst it is abhorrent to me as a fan, it is business as usual for sisu.

I'm still awaiting a reply from P4, but I'm not holding my breath. And quite frankly if it helps the club in the long run I would rather he concentrate on sorting the mess at coventry out than contact me. THE most important thing in this mess should be sorting out the mess rather than courting the media. Shame the voice of the fans doesn't do the same!

We were not in admin over a year ago Mr Middleton!

On the radio this morning that the FL have stated the golden share was in LTD when they took it back and that is why CCFC LTD got the 10 point deduction.

Well Done Liam-nice effort mate.
I do hope you put some paragraphs in though, as it's a bit offputting seeing a big mass of words-it could be the difference between someone reading it or not.

hate to deflate that because we get so little good news.............

The Football League can give it back to whoever they choose.......... my guess is they will take the path of least resistance and see CCFC H running the club, making plans to go forward, "consulting fans", backing community schemes etc (can you see the plan?) ........ think we (as in FL) have other problems, we do not get involved in disputes away from the league regulations, what would be simplest, what guarantees the matches being played next season etc etc .............. and hand it to ccfch on the basis they make a believable case for beneficial ownership if you do not question too closely :(:(:(

i hope i am wrong

You may be right but is the best guarantee for completing the season with SISU and their track record or a new owner of the club and part of the stadium with promises of real investment not just accounting smoke and mirrors?

I do not think the FL has any power or desire to investigate potential other owners whilst SISU claim ownership of CCFC. So long as SISU can produce a believable plan to the FL then sadly I think they will go with that.

I do not disagree with you but I dont think the FL will see it that way

think you're right, especially if the FL have messed up somewhere along the line and allowed the players to become owned by a different company to that holding the golden share. easy solution in that scenario is to ensure the company owning the players ends up owning the share, removes any threat of legal action and a whole big mess for the FL to sort out.

The FL will just send you a 'we don't comment on individual case' type response. Is this not an area that the Trust could be useful? With the help of Supporters Direct they could apply a bit of pressure on the league to get their finger out and do something. It's one thing to knock back individual emails but if the Trust and Supporters Direct apply some pressure, and make it very public that they're doing so, it will make it a little harder for them to do nothing.

I agree no one is likely to get a meaningful answer.. however I sent an email because the more emails they get the more they will realise the strength of feeling that exists in the fan base.

The Football League do not recognise the entity described as SISU. Who are they and why are you referring to them as being distinct from the football club?

The emotive language makes it sound a bit ridiculous I'm afraid. It sounds like a begging letter rather than that can be seriously investigated. Also you keep changing your position from being a fan to being a part of the football club, e.g. 'We sold a number of our high profile players'.

For example, Last summer, we sold a number of our high profile players, including Richard Keogh and Gael Bigirimana, and brought in around £3,000,000 in transfer fees, yet SISU gave us £250,000 to spend in the transfer market

What's that got to do with anything or the Football League?

I've been emailing them since we went into admin to ask who has the golden share.

Eventually they replied without answering who own what, simply stating the Coventry City Football Club are in admin and had been docked 10 points.

I emailed again asking about the Golden Share, they replied they couldn't comment as the club was appealing the decision.

I've emailed them again today asking about the Golden share. As people have already pointed out they won't get involved i legal issues.

I knew this would drag on and on!

There comes a time when a man has to stand up and say 'Yes I am Paul Calf. I've done some bad things, but if you can't accept me with all my paradox, well I'm sorry. But I make no apologies for that.' All I'm asking for is a little respect.

I sent this email this morning, some of the questions my have been already answered or asked but its hard to keep up with what is going on around the club these days ....

To whom it may concern,

I'm writing this email to ask you a couple of questions that I hope you can clear up for me. I am a Coventry City fan and as your aware times arent to great for us at the minute. To add to this there is confusion amongst others and myself regarding statements coming out of CCFC about a possible new stadium, the ware abouts of the golden share and potential bids for the club itself.

To that end could you please help me by answering the following questions.....?

1- Why is Tim Fisher making statments about the club moving stadiums when the club is now in control of the administrator Mr Paul Appleton?

2- Why is there still confusion as to where the Golden Share is when you the football league hold records on its where abouts.

3- Why did the football league dock 10 points when they weren't 100% where the Golden share was?

4- When will potential bidders be notified if their bid is successful?

5- Will the Football League please make a statement, not just to the Sky Blue Trust but to every CCFC fan explaining what is going on?

We as CCFC fans have been kept in the dark for far to long with what's going on with our beloved club, so please help me and many others out by answering these questions.

Kind Regards

David Palmer
