Sheffers not making the bench yesterday (1 Viewer)

A regular when Elvis started, then started being subbed, then an unused sub and finally not even a sub.

Is this the end of his sky blue career ?. is contract is up has there been any contract negotiations, I doubt Elvis wants him around even at reduced wages. Probably will get another contract Lg1 / Lg2.

Probably best for all if he leaves.

I want the best possible team and squad, first and foremost. We all recognise his contribution which was mainly from his initial spell, has had 3 seasons since his return and his performances have deteriorated. Marcus Hall was a good servant but outstayed his stay. Its good that we have these local lads but they earn a good living and Sheffers hasn't earned his wages this, possibly harsh but Connor & Callum, Cyrus are local boys lets now concentrate on the future rather than the past.

It tells me that Pressley knows what hes doing because Sheff has been shite for months now.

Sheffers has played his part at times over the years but he's not at his best now, not even at this level and we really just can't afford to pay him anything like what he has been used to. See ya Gaz !!

The longer he plays like he has this season & arguably last season the more he'll tarnish his 'Local boy done good' reputation.

I don't blame him for crossing the white line every week, we all would if the gaffer kept picking us. However I really do hope he moves on now.

He's struggled more since Blair Adams has been injured. I think Adams made McSheffrey look better than he actually has been all season

When was Gary McSheffrey's last 'good' game for his beloved Sky Blues?

Maybe it is time for him to move on, but the certain few basking in his poor form need to have a word with themselves.

Theres no sentiment in football, as someone stated, hes earned a good wage. If he really loves the cub he will move on and free up that good wage for someone else. What has he, 1 goal maybe 2 assists all season despite playing almost every game until recently

Hardly basking, merely stating the obvious. If the most expensive meal on the menu, at your favourite restaurant, was shit every week would you not complain to the chef?

I'd probably boo and call the chef a wanker and bring some balloons next time.

He's been a good players through the years and doesn't deserve the grief he's currently getting. But, it is time to move on and free up his wages.

Played over 250 games for the club cov lad supports cov and you want to leave just like that

Sentiment doesn't play a part in todays football. We've learned from that in the past!

Totally agree with that and although I think it probably is time for him to move on in his prime he was one of the best players to wear the shirt in recent times. I think being a Cov lad he is actually under more pressure than others as fans think he is living out their dreams so expect more from him. Whether he's having s fag in the oak or tucking into a Nandos he's lived his life in a goldfish bowl whilst here so I think a move must be the best option for him too so he can finish his career without the huge expectation which has weighed him down in his second spell here.

He is clearly no where near the standard we need him to be at.
Time for a change.

Sheffers

Doesn't look fit to me and has lost a yard of pace and his confidence is shot that's why i think he has been dropped out of the squad but do not write him off at your peril
At 29 he should be at his prime particularly with his experience and the standard of this league
He needs to knuckle down and get fit for next season as he should have at least three good seasons as long as he is not burning the candle at both ends which may also be a factor in his poor form if you listen to the rumour mongers
Another contributing factor is the pitch does not do him any favours along with other players as its now the worst in the division and gets worse by the week which of course affects dribbling players such as Mcsheffery and Baker, the ball is like a hot potato and doesn't run true just bobbles along couple of players on saturday hit then air when trying to pass

I really fail to see your point, so say McSheffrey carries on playing until he's 50, slow, overweight etc (what no change to now then) but because he is a Coventry boy through and through and played x amount of games we should keep him I really don't think so, he adds nothing to the side, its time to cut him loose and free him from our wage bill.
