Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but does anybody know if there is a DVD available with highlights of each game last season with Sky Sports commentary? This stuff won’t stay on YouTube forever, so it would be great to have a record of it even if DVD is a dying thing. To be honest I’d also love a similar thing with all our best games rising from league 2 to the premier league.

I'm not aware of anything official the club is putting out. Your post has reminded me to download that absolutely great fan made one that came out late July on youtube (in case it does get taken down one day). I've saved lots of the city unseen/match highlights stuff over the years, hopefully if others have as well we will always have a copy of whatever game/season someone wants

It is strange the club were not all over it during the summer. I suppose they have crunched the numbers and decided most people aren't willing to pay for physical media anymore?!

Yeah it’s because no one watches DVD anymore, but I really feel in this case it’s worth doing for the memories otherwise I know I won’t be able to hold a record of it. Still annoys me for example that I can’t get hold of the Notts County 4-1 win with the sky sports commentary

This site seemed like a good idea but they seem to just link out to YouTube and don’t host themselves. I’m sure there’s copyright issues but it would be good to have a club managed proper archive of video footage somewhere for posterity. Cost and copyright law probably prevent it though.

Yeah all true. That said cost and copyright didn’t seem to stop them when they did those VHS season reviews back in the day. Maybe things have got tighter since then?

We did a DVD of the cup win away at Man Utd - it’s probably because most people don’t buy DVDs these days.

I do think this would have been nice as a one off and would have sold a few copies. I get that DVDs have been in rapid decline for several years, but I do think something like this would have an audience - especially given that there's no guarantee that anything on YouTube will remain there forever. Same with streaming, it seemed great at first but now there's so many different ones, all introducing adverts and withdrawing content on a whim that some people are thinking they were better off buying something physical!

Unfortunately, physical media is 'not in the club's retail roadmap' - that's the response I had when trying to get my latest book (Back At Last - the one celebrating last season) stocked in the club shop. It's a shame as my first book was stocked in there and sold out but this time I was told that the only book the club are interested in stocking is the We Are Back book as that one is a. produced by the club and b. doesnt' contain much text and is photo-heavy.

Yeah that feels a shame. I get their perspective, but last season was very special for the club. Squeezing as much as you can out of that with books and DVDs would make sense to me, but I’m no expert.

I think all of the City Unseen videos are saved on the Sky Blue Archive

Posterity and all that, strange evaluation by the club,or maybe they have it right.

I beg to differ. Physical media is making a comeback and although sales of new Dvds are in a slow decline, there remains a steady market for second hand DVDs. I think this may continue as many people are getting disillusioned with streaming services. Both cost and availability of older stuff makes streaming unattractive to many.

Dangerous Venereal Disease
This remind of something that happened late 90's / early 00's.

I was out Christmas shopping with my nan. We were in HMV and while I was looking through the music CD's she went over to look at the DVD's for one she wanted, something like Cadfael or Inspector Lynley.

Anyway, while I was looking at the CD's I just heard my nan's voice shout very loudly across the shop as she walked towards me "They haven't got the VD I want."

Everything just seemed to freeze and the place went deathly silent. Then the staff by the tills just started laughing and the guy next to me was clearly trying so hard not to laugh. I think I went bright red. In the end I just said 'Never mind, Nan, we'll have a look elsewhere" and ushered her out of the shop as quickly as I could.

I doubt she ever realised what she'd done, and she'd have been mortified is she had.

I hope you’re right. As I said a DVD of that season or our best games rising to the PL is something I would buy

Its great when something totaly random triggers old memories. My nan would regularly come out with similar funny comments.
I miss those days, but I still have the memories

I used to love the old end of season VHS season reviews you got around the late 80s/early 90s.

The amount of times I must have watched that David Speedie hat-trick vs Middlesbrough only for Bernie Slaven to get his own, or Bryan Gunn get sent off for Norwich in 1988.

The good old days.

There were a couple of those VHS tapes that me and my brother watched again and again. So much so that phrases like, 'Regis jumping' and 'Oh that's delicious!' (referring to a Speedie chip) became go-to phrases for us.

As a kid I used to watch the 98/99 one religiously. Always skipped through the end where they interviewed the players on a golf day haha

'Classic' Richard Keys commentary. 🤣

I was the same, especially the 88/89 one. I can still hear the commentary you mentioned above now.

If you provide me all the youtube links ill make you a video you can download and keep forever
I was thinking this could be done by the club itself yesterday don't even need to be a huge run up front if they're worrying over wasted labour, just do a sample size, then increase as demand should you'd hope

‘Who remembers DVD’s… Blue Ray, what were all that about”
