If we are honest the last 4 or 5 home games haven't been great either. The quality of play has significantjy dropped home and away for a few months.
There's an awful lot on the Tank because you don't see many battlers or leaders in this team. Saka and Rudi a bit.
Wright needs to show something very soon else we have to persist with Simms until the end of the season. We can't afford a sulky morale drainer in the team.

I also think dropping Thomas and Kitch was a wake up call to them by Frank to get back at it. They would have a had a 2 week break before the Boro game to rest as well.

The negativity on here is depressing. Do people really expect us to twin every game as if we're special in some way. We're not, but this is our team and at times like this we should all be getting behind them regardless. We know what they can do and we know that every team has it's ups and downs. And just as Middlesbrough's winning spell will come to an end at some point, so will our lean spell... fingers crossed it's Monday!

Boro win. People on here will condemn the performance and result. Then the other people who insist we’ll win because we always beat Boro and we’re so brilliant at home apparently, will have a go at those who are unhappy with the result.

No 'apparently' about it. One defeat all season at home.

There's been a perfect storm, which we could have weathered if we'd been lucky.

While our form has dropped off, Boro have won six in a row, not the kind of thing that happens very often.

It is as it is. The playera have to knuckle down and fight. Our job as fans is to help them do it.

Obviously nothing is going to be mathematically sorted and rubber stamped on Monday night, but in every other sense of the word it feels like a game that we simply have to win - For our confidence, for their confidence

Middlesbrough are in a good moment akin to the one we were in between August and November but I am not writing off our chances in a home game

Worth mentioning, if we win this and win the one after that, we would be 11 points clear of Ipswich before they kick a ball again (albeit two games up on them), with their next League game being a tough away at Wrexham at 3pm after we have played WBA

Yeah, if we are going to get two players sent off for violent conduct, it might as well be kids. 👍🏻

I'd seriously consider it regardless of the scoreline.

Jokes aside, I hope we do get stuck into them early and have a homer ref.

We all need to get behind the team for this one as defeat here and I'm afraid it will got very toxic and all the good work done over the last few years might come undone.

Mixed emotions already on this one.

Part excited, part dread.

I certainly did not expect us to be going into this game ahead of you but the recent poor record at your place still hangs over us. It would be the best time to break that run. Your drop in form has to end at some point as does our winning run, it will be another tough game with lots of chances at both ends.

I expect the same starting XI

Brynn
Brittain
Ayling
Malanda
Targett
Morris
Hackney
Browne
Whittaker
Mcgree
Conway

We are pressing and closing down well as a team at the moment and we like to pull teams to one side of the pitch before quickly switching the play. We are very quick in transition from defence to attack and extremely direct. That said, we will give chances away as is our style.

I would take a point and keep top spot.

Monday feels like a life time away. I obviously wish you no luck at all but i do genuinely hope its you and us for top 2.

Enjoy the painful build up lads and lasses.

I would play KKH at left back to counter Whittaker who cuts inside a lot and also get that little disaster out of the side as he will be standing upfield while they are breaking away. As said above they go side to side a lot and Dasilva likes to stand next to the left centre back and let his man go wide.

need to get in the ref’s ear constantly about Hackney and get at him in old football you would absolutely hammer him either on or just after his first touch.

Also let’s not be fooled by a clean sheet against Oxford and get back to the normal centre backs.

The fans need to be up for it.

Now we've been knocked off the top the pressure seems to be off a bit. Now we don't have to worry about staying top, we can get on with the game again. 2-0 City
I'm not sure how the pressure is off. We have Boro in front and then hull and Ipswich waiting to take over second place.

Think Millwall will be more of a threat to the auto spots than Hull between now and the end of the season.
Hull are punching well above their weight imo and only have a point in their last two home games.

Hull are 3rd in the last 15 form table aren't they?

Some would do well to learn from Bamford that strikers don't score with every attempt either, neither does it make them sh1t!

Our goals from midfield have dried up, so too the CBs and the no10 position has been pretty unproductive, we can't put it all on Haji! An average of 1 goal in three games or so is all we can expect of any striker, others have to step up now.

It's good we have Boro next up if we can put them back in their place ;)

Sounds about right. They've been in great form, and do have two winnable home league games coming up so who knows, but I just suspect they might not be good enough to go the full way

Could a back 3 of Thomas , Lati and wolf work at home with wingbacks of MVE and KKH ?

Frank the tank and EMC back in changes the dynamic of the team. Especially Frank. He’s the missing ingredient as a proper box to box midfielder. Will be a great midfield battle between Hackney/Morris and Grimes/Tank.

Boro aren’t going to sit with a low block for the whole game like Oxford. They will be on the attack and leave gaps on the counter.

Fuck it, i'm going all in for a 3-1 win.
Onyeka WILL make a difference in the middle of the park.
Rudoni will rediscover his form from last season.
EMC and Esse to cause havoc down the wings.
Haji will spend all week hitting a cows backside with a banjo, remember where the goal is, and grab a coupe of goals.

Sorted, back top by 10pm on Monday night (y)

Let’s hope they’re kind enough to keep those gaps while we knock it around the back for 90 seconds.

I can't see him rediscovering that form this season

He is so clearly playing through a pain barrier with his shoulder, wouldn't surprise me if he actually needs surgery on it and the club did not want to risk losing him for as long as they would have done when he suffered the injury

People said Boro wouldn't be good enough to catch us and it was unthinkable.

Ok - everyone saying Frank "the tank" will sort us out.

Why!? What is saying that he will!?

Why do we assume all of our signings are the second coming of Pele.

People were jizzing themselves hearing we'd signed Brau. He's shit

People saying KKH was an upgrade on MVE because he won a few awards at Preston - yes Preston who were nearly relegated!

He could be a liability and just not fit how we play (what even is that at the moment!?)

Big big big gamble to throw him in now in Monday...
Brau hasn't played a lot of games in the Prem league. He isn't called "The tank" He doesn't play defensive midfield.
