He still created 2 decent chances and got a good shot off that tested the keeper with that volley.

Was the least of our issues.
Agree he is not the problem but he really needs to focus on the basics. If we turn the ball over with cheap flicks and tricks against better teams we will be punished

I thought he was our main issue. He won't hold his position on the flank which disrupts the entire way that we play. If he's in the centre when Tats cuts back, or worse, ALONGSIDE him, we can't put a ball into the far post or switch the play.

Flicks and twists are frustrating but this was affecting the whole team. He had some flashes of carrying the ball past his man which was great, but If he can't be disciplined then I think we're best using him as an impact player.

I like to think I’m usually quite level headed (I’m not but don’t post everything I think) on here…but that was one of the weirdest performances I’ve seen from a city player.

the original post is an over exaggeration, but I think there is some truth to it - he does play like everything has to be a trick or flick, and yeah it’s great when it comes off but sometimes he does need to simplify things

have to also point out though he has scored 2 in 4, and is a threat going forwards…

probably just needs a quiet word from the boss to cut down the flicks and spins, note cut down not cut out, as that’s ultimately what makes him the player Palace spent so much on

I don’t mind the flicks and tricks, it’s clearly his style and there aren’t enough maverick types anymore. When they come off, which some will, he will create and score. But fucking hell lad, not in our own half and across our own box 🤦‍♂️

The comment earlier that we didn’t need him is incredible. We were all season desperate for cover on the wings.

My Palace supporting mate didn’t rate Esse at all and indeed I think the Palace manager said he wasn’t quite Prem ready and needed to fill out a bit. Personally I think he’s done ok…I keep repeating myself but, why did we bring in 3 wingers when a striker and left back would have been better. Surely 1 extra winger would have been enough.

If lampard starts lati and wolf v boro and we get smashed , thats entirely on him
Lets be honest, Woolf, Kitch, Thomas or Lati I think we're expecting a beating either way.

If they start and we lose there's not very much recent evidence the other two would fair any better.
