Its not necessarily a bad thing being a "softer generation". It shows how far we've come as a species. And you're right, each generation has got softer and softer. If we were all around 300 years ago, we'd all pretty much know how to actually wield an axe or sword, or be a good archer, or master the skill of a weapon of some kind. Whatever country you lived in. There were wars constantly. This nation is built from wars and conquests. From Vikings to Romans to Saxons. People seen death and horror daily. Public hangings for petty crimes. Executioners torturing prisoners in front of entire towns and cities. It would've been an awful time to live. But as ages go on, it becomes easier to live.
We're now on a 3rd generation of people that haven't been to war as a mandatory. And whilst that is a good thing, its also a nod to how generations are softer than previous ones.

I think it goes back to social media again. And like minded people affirming each other's views and ideas. And a lot of these women that want equality, or say they could happily live in a world without men etc etc. I could guarantee would be at the very back of the queue if subscription came back and they were needed for war. They'd soon revert back to the doting house wives of the 50s if their actual lives depended on it. Im not saying all women have these views, im also not saying all women would shy away from subscription. But a hell of a lot would certainly show their true colours.
Just look at Ukraine.... all men required to stay and fight, regardless of age. All women and children sent to live in different countries around Europe. Wheres the equality there? They weren't so hard on demanding equal rights in Ukraine when it came to dying, so why would the UK or USA be any different? It wont.

Or you sticking with your "load of old shite" and "utter bollocks as usual" lines?I mean, though I didnt receive any crosses like some of my friends (2 lads I served with got the George Cross, which can only bettered by the Victoria Cross) I still have 3 medals. N.Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan. Ive also buried 15 friends and lived with PTSD and nightmares almost my entire adult life. But please, do continue you tell me i know fuck all about wars and/or suffering and/or valour.... I cant wait to hear everything else youve got to say on the matter.... Just curious, do ALL veterans who've done active tours get the same disdain from you? Or am I just special? I mean, its one thing having a different opinion to somebody else on a forum made for opinions, but to completely belittle their career experiences as "utter bollocks as usual" is another level of cuntish tbf. And then to just completely skirt around it like it never happened without even an acknowledgement you got this one wrong too.
