The plan has always been to try and get lucky in the play-offs one season with minimal investment.

Certainly how it felt in the summer. May still happen, I've given up predicting anything

It would be shite for a year - then we’d be in the position Ipswich are in set up for multiple seasons

The argument of not getting promoted because it’ll be shit dumbfounds me. The alternative isn’t stay in the top 6 of the Championship forever. Teams who were pushing promotion for multiple years and failed either ended up in the shit (Derby, Sheff W) or regressed for years (Millwall, Bristol City)
We could try to be competitive like Sunderland when we go up and try to stay up. But at least try to get there in the first place, not think too far ahead and cock up a one in million chance.

The thing is. If we just stopped fucking and when we take the lead and keep it solid we would have loads more points. We don't know how to deal with it.

Park the fucking bus.
The Southampton game showed we are capable of digging in and grinding out results, with backs to the wall defending.

What happens?
Renew ST, another season of crushing disappointment, rinse repeat.

I wouldn't miss it for the world!
I'm feeling at the moment that if we blow it this season I'll give up on them as know it's not going to happen. But after 40+ years of supporting them I'm used to it.

I know that I'll be there again next season though as I'm too invested in the football club and couldn't walk away

Could of brought Lati on at 0-1 as an out & out sweeper & sacrificed Simms who was playing like Simms.

What happens if we don’t go up from here is that we endure a mountain of cretinous meltdowns on here and then simply begin next season in the championship.

Lampard goes.
Huge squad turnover with many departures.
Season ticket sales will drop - probably by the thousands.

We are then in danger of having to calm things down and re-group as a club.

It would be a disaster

Now if we DID go up.... Well... The opposite!
At this point there’s nobody I’d be gutted to lose, would have said MVE previously but he’s been way off it and there’s a player in KKH.

I see a lot of people saying EMC would go, who do you think would want him and would we get near to getting our money back as I can’t see it

The reality:

We lose the loans. Dovin and Markelo come in.

MVE goes, KKH comes in.

We sell others for big fees, and we reinvest.

Lampard gets poached, Edwards steps up.

It’s all in place for another push

That’s why it such a catch 22 for DK right now. He’s rolls the dice too much right now on short term options , and that reinvestment money is suddenly already eaten up.

Thomas' court date could be in the summer though? Could we be missing him for part of the year?

Keep getting us in play off contention and hope one year it comes off? Don't know to be honest

That’s quite literally what he’s said the strategy is. If we don’t go up this year though we’ll have made 3/5 playoffs and not gone up so 🤷🏻‍♂️

It is possible that Wrexham, Birmingham, Burnley, Wolves, and West Ham....plus Southampton still with para cash will be in the Championship next season.
A team consisting of KKH, Dovin, Kitching, Lati, Allen etc gets NOWHERE near top six.

Who is poaching a manager who blew a 13 point lead and was unable to turn it around with 16 games left to play?

People who see the bigger picture of a guy who took over a side who were in a relegation battle, and got them into the play-offs two years on the trot.

Despite having a bottom half wage budget,

Is there any actual evidence that we have a bottom half wage budget besides those bullshit sites that say we have lower wages than the likes of Oxford and Portsmouth?

Doubt there are many teams who have spent as much on their squad as we have besides parachute teams

If we've got players who will go for big fees in the event we fail to get promotion is it really rolling the dice to much to spend some of the projected income now. You're essentially just acting 6 months early and getting players who will be playing next season now.

We were in that battle. Which is why I cannot see why people expected us to eat this league alive

Nobody would poach Lampard after that bottle.

I also thing all our players are knocking a few million off their fees at the moment. Who is looking at this bunch of bottle jobs and thinking they need to blow a load of money on them.

Slightly odd that the same people crying out for massive squad turnover in the transfer window thread are in here fretting about massive squad turnover in this one.
