What happens if we don't go up from here? (3 Viewers)

Lampard goes.
Huge squad turnover with many departures.
Season ticket sales will drop - probably by the thousands.

We are then in danger of having to calm things down and re-group as a club.

It would be a disaster

Now if we DID go up.... Well... The opposite!

I'm not convinced Lampard goes. He was the man King wanted, there were rumours from day one he wanted Robins out and Lampard in.

If we don't go up he's not going to be a target for anyone else, do you really see King sacking him with no doubt a big payoff due?

Agree there would be a huge squad turnover and IMO having a settled squad was a big part of our start to the season. How many times has it been October or November and we're waiting for the team to gel so we can make a late run at the play offs? My worry is where the money comes from for a rebuild as most of the players will be in the last year or two of their contracts and not going for huge fees.

Would need a hell of a marketing campaign to get season ticket numbers up to where they are now.

Lets hope these are all things we don't have to worry about.

This was said last time and we got huge fees for Hamer & Gyokeres. MVE, Wright, Rudoni would fetch £40 mill+ between them. Would someone be willing to take punts on BTA, Simms, EMC? potentially another £15mill+ for those 3. I don't think bringing in money for a rebuild is a problem, the problem is it takes us so long to identify a player and get them in through the door.

Weirdly if we had a more consistent collection of points and finished with 77/78 regardless of play off results the club would probably be buzzing. Continuous improvement with hopes of automatics next season. As you say if we finish around that about now with whats gone before it will have a real negative effect. Funny old game

Nearlymen FC. Two Wembley heartbreaks, Sunderland last kick of the game in last seasons semi final. Currently sitting top of the league and wiping away a 13 point cushion through our own idiocy and stubbornness to change in game. Yes, what a position we find ourselves in, but if we somehow collapse and this form continues I don’t know where we go. It’s now or never. And yet so typically city. That being said let’s roar them over the line, and make the home games now like a fortress.

Who really wants to go up DK for the money FL for the glory Players most of which are not good enough for PL.I live being competitive in the championship,I've seen us play in the premier league and we were trying to stay up every year.My lad and alot of the younger fans definitely do but I'm not that fussed.

Exactly this.
There would be such disappointment as opposed to belief that we could "go again next year"
I think Lampard would walk.

I wouldn't care if we got battered every week.
My two boys could see us up against the best and the players that are on their match attax cards.
It would set us up for years to come to be more competitive going forwards...

Im not sure how even king would want lampard to stay , should we fall apart from here now that would be potentially 28 games of this season where we were below par .

Wright Rudoni MVE all go for decent money
Possibly we the lose EMC and Thomas as well

the Loans all return

We will have a lot of money to spend but needing 7-8 new first team players at the very least.
The Manager will probably stay unless he gets a prem offer especially in London (Palace?) and if he does then then we go searching for another miracle worker again.

If we don't go up, he has to go. Hopefully we win the next 2 and things look better. Frank is defensively naive and hasn't used or trusted this squad.

We would have to be competitive enough to survive otherwise its just football tourism and getting giddy over seeing famous players. I just can't believe the fans would put up with it for long if it was a Derby situation
If we don't, total rebuild and new manager. I actually hate the Prem. Wish we hadn't done so well and were just pushing for play offs. Sounds bizarre, I know. Hopefully win against Oxford and Middlesbrough and things feel good again.

I take very little notice of it at all and I like this league but as someone said earlier, ultimately you must push higher

It would be shite for a year - then we’d be in the position Ipswich are in set up for multiple seasons

The argument of not getting promoted because it’ll be shit dumbfounds me. The alternative isn’t stay in the top 6 of the Championship forever. Teams who were pushing promotion for multiple years and failed either ended up in the shit (Derby, Sheff W) or regressed for years (Millwall, Bristol City)

Something to be said for being a yo yo club like some others. Every season something happening, either trying to stay up or go up
