Mate. Please let's be a bit pragmatic now. Trying to outscore everyone won't get us promoted when we defend like that.

Crack on with it at home by all means but let's be hard to beat away from home, first and foremost. We'll give ourselves a chance.

We keep losing away from home and we blow it.

We have great big gaping gaps in the middle and teams are just storming through. Huge worry.

That was a very attacking team we put out there tonight, but we just didn't show anywhere near enough attacking threat..

FL has to turn this around and quick.

Structurally we’re a mess in all departments at the moment. The midfield issue is well trodden but how many times do we lose first contact at an attacking set piece and the opposition are away? How many times do we let wide players just run into the box unchallenged?

Terrible free kick right at the end. Keeper goes up and free kick goes about 3 foot high. Summed us up.

And yet, with set ourselves so top heavy without looking a threat at all. Thats the worst thing, if it was risk vs reward and we looked deadly, fine I'll maybe take it. But bta didnt touch the ball for 37 mins!!

Derby fans told us he has 1 way of playing and relies on a bit of brilliance to win.

But that hasn’t been our experience has it …. It’s not been the odd bit of brilliance …. We were the best championship team in 2025.

It’s fine margins …. Kitch shouldn’t give them the second, EMC hits the bar, Wright has one cleared off the line ….

We are not playing as well as we were but the over reaction is also not helpful.

Middlesbrough.
We've had three points since then, and one of those was at Charlton, who are a painfully mediocre team, and one was against 10 men.

The worst thing is, that most of the defeats have been due to being brainlessly gung-ho. There's no way we should have lost to a very average Birmingham team, and whilst Norwich are a good side in a false position, we played completely into our hands.

Thank you...i started this same thread after Blackburn at home! And Watford at Home when they outplayed us with 10 men.

Ii said it today when in match thread. Will let you know if this formation is stupidity or genius.

It would only take two changes to make us look stronger:

1. Tell Dasilva to stay back at all times
2. Change the midfield to a proper double pivot, instead of the 8 being closer to the CF than Grimes

It's been MONTHS of us getting ripped apart on the counter and Lampard has done fuck all about it.

I’d argue just doing the second one would be enough, but also not playing possibly the best full back / winger combinations in the league then relying on cross field balls from centre halves and long balls forward from defence

Grimes as the shield isn’t working out of possession. Players breeze past him.

Hoping that Onyeka is coming in because we need better protection. Frank knows that. Hopefully Doug can see it as well.

Point 2 I agree with. 5-3-2 or something when we’re away might be a good should too.

Something isn’t going our way when we’re on the road atm. We’ve lost 3 of our last 5 away games but at least you can afford to lose about 5-7 away games and still go up automatically.

Also just compare this to Boro away at Stoke last week. One nil down, makes the required changes and turns the game around.

One nil up but creaking, change nothing and lose. It’s not even the first time this season in this exact scenario.

A huge issue is that our fullbacks act like wingbacks but we don't play 3 at the back

So Grimes comes deep and shields the back two which would be fine if we had someone doing midfield busy work

Torp is too forward facing to do it, Eccles looks overwhelmed when asked to do it for 90 minutes

Torp going too far forward sits on the toes of the 10 so they end up drifting wide for space which then is crowded because you end up with a winger, a wingback and a 10

The defence can then concentrate on defending the penalty area with an overload.

The solution is to get a midfielder signed sealed and delivered ASAP that you can trust to knit together Grimes and the 10 by contributing defensively with tackles and interceptions but also having the ability to pick a pass instead of getting drawn into space. All that while being an imposing presence in the centre.

His name is Frank Onyeka and we need to open the cheque book and do what's needed.

This worries me more than the individual form of any player.
You can go back to the Charlton game at home at the start of November where we all thought "Christ they're getting at us quite easily here" and see where it began.

3 months have passed, every team since has done us on the counter, and still nothing has changed.

Kamikaze football won't get us promoted.
