We will never get a better chance than this its simple

If we dont spend a penny in this window its not good enough is it let's be honest. Its not like we have a complete squad, we have 1 capable left back, 1 capable DM.

Yes the squads done brilliantly so far, but our rivals are strengthening and closing. Standing still will get us overtaken
But if we dont sign anyone or go up its ok because dough has paid for the ground and bought in Esse on loan! Its not all doom and gloom.

The issue is we have players that we cant get rid of, as you say, we have 1 capable LB, but we have 3 in the squad, Doug paid top wages for Woolfenden, who now appears to be 4th choice CH abd is unlikely to get many minutes. We have Lats and Allen who can be bit part players, but arnt good enough to give competition to the regular starters, and Eccles who is also a fringe player.
Doug won't keep adding to the squad while we carry so many players.

That’s a fair argument I suppose but it just highlights the poor squad planning. Brau looks a poor signing and we could really do with getting rid of Bidwell

And the only person to blame will be the owner who everyone is in love with on here. Time for a reality check, spending £0 when your top in January should be a criminal offence. Let’s hope he has a surprise or 2 up his sleeve but I think we’re done

Not really. He is a loan.
So they wouldn't want him on loan?

We're the only side that didn't rely on loans for outfield players. Now we have spaces for them. There's a good chance of keeping Esse permanently after this season. He loves working with Lampard and is going to improve even more.

Is there a good chance should we not go up?

How do you know he loves working with Lampard. Is there an interview I missed.

Appreciate the sarcasm but the idea of anyone being “doom and gloom” at this specific moment of being a Coventry fan right now is hilarious

is there any evidence regarding this?

I wonder if we're trying to move Wolfenden on? Was a huge waste of money, with the fee and the wages. He'll be gone in the summer whatever happens, I hope.

You call yourself ‘astute’ and used to sit all day and night on a Sunderland forum, the fact you make wild claims like you have done is hilarious. Proper sad individual

North Leics…...unfortunately
To be honest, we’ve addressed the biggest need imo so even if we signed no one else, it’s still a decent transfer window.

Esse on loan is a coup of a signing.
Ah …thought I saw an opportunity to wheel out Mick. My mistake

Thing is though, if he wasnt good enough for the step up for them and needed replacing 6 months ago, its surely a silly signing. If he was free or loan id be all over it. Exactly what we need for promotion push. But why spend cash on a player already deemed not good enough for the step up by another club?

So you only want to sign premier league level players before we actually get there?

Yes. Lampard said in an interview that Esse talks to him after each game asking him what he could have done better and on how he can improve.

So there isn't any evidence he loves working with him then, it is conjecture.

The usual anti signing brigade are saying we should be happy with what we have.

All thats being asked for is a statement midfield signing ala Hamer, Louza, Onyeka and Andrews going out on loan.

That isn't asking for the world, particularly for a team at the top of the league looking to cement their position there.

There is an extremely high chance that it is, in fact, good enough. We shall see at the end of the season.

Are we no longer classing Jake Bidwell or Josh Eccles as capable players now?
Bidwell has slowed tremendously and does need replacing unfortunately

For a side at the top of the table we need better.

Shame, because I have always rated him, but he's 32 now and will be 33 in March.

So who has said we should be happy with what we have? Everyone would love more signings but most understand how hard it is to bring in the calibre of players we need to be able to play a big part for the rest of the season.

Ipswich and Boro are managing it.

A top quality, starting leftback is my dream this week.

Exactly!
People forget how much Doug has already spent buying the stadium.
and offloading Obikwu for 500k just after bringing in 2 loans (with the loan fees/wages) would suggest Doug is keen to balance the books.

As much as I'd love to see another experienced DM join us, I'd not be suprised if we stick with the squad we now have.

A CM is very much on the shopping list and has been all window. Why do you think the links to the likes of Neil, Hamer and Onyeka have been about?

Let's hope we manage to get it over the line because if we dont strengthen and we miss out Doug will need to answer to it
Its def wages, why would you not want to come to a team that’s going to be in the prem next season, yeah, that’s the only worry if the unthinkable happens then it’ll be why didn’t we sign someone, but I reckon what we’ve got will get it done

You are correct it isnt asking for much., You however go into a major meltdown if we dont actually acheive that

I dont want Bidwell playing any games in the run in, you are correct.
If we get to a point in the season where not losing is what's needed (rather than needing the 3 points), then Bidwell will be useful, or protecting a lead in the last 10. He is still a decent defender. If we are playing a team who are launching it into the box, Bidwell will be more useful than DaSilva.

I dont really do I.

In the summer me and a few other posters said the squad was thin and we would probably suffer as a consequence, which we did.
