Yes and how ridiculous does that look now
2bf I don’t think that needs to be a set in stone thing - in August it was the most important moment in the clubs recent history.

nobody could foresee that our small squad would be sitting 6 points clear at the top at the end of January.

competing for the play offs - yes. But not the position we’re in

Think it’s got to be Rushworth for his consistency tbh. Others have had purple patches but Rushy has consistently been one of our best players and just had the odd game off.

Crazy people said he’s no better than Wilson 😂😂😂

My shortlist thus far is:
• Rushworth
• Mason-Clarke
• Thomas-Asante
• Grimes

tough to pick one between them all for different reasons, Rushworth and Grimes consistency has been key and we would be fucked without either of them. EMC and BTA have both been showing their quality and undroppable when available, I think I’d have to say BTA least likely unless he comes back performing at the same levels, then Grimes because he’s dropped off a tiny bit, so between Rushworth and Mason-Clarke

Not that I think we should be signing players for no reason, but given that there seems to be a bit of an arms race from other teams around us, I do hope we spare no penny pinching to get some deals over the line.

I think we can do it, but if there's one or even two players that can come in and add some quality then we need to get it done. This is such a good opportunity.

Rushworth
EMC
Grimes
Thomas

they’d be my options. BTA would need to have a great end to the season after being out for so long.

History shows it’s all about how players perform in the last 12 matches …. Everyone forgets the first half and gets focused on that period.

If Wright scored 15 goals in the remainder of the season he would win player of the season I have no doubt ….

I've always believed that we wouldn't be making any major signings unless somebody leaves, just as with Sheaf and Woolfie. That might still happen around the edges in the last week of the window. It's been pretty clear for months that King isn't going to be putting in millions of fresh investment, hence the loans. I'm pretty confident that they had planned to move MVE out but that changed over the summer.

It simply doesn’t equate that we need more players but are top and have just beaten two good teams. One midfielder as depth. Yes. Some of the other suggestions are lunacy. Those saying Lampard hasn’t been backed have very short memories where going back forever we would be sure of losing our best talent as a matter of course.

I suspect King is very happy to spend for the right player this window. Securing that right player is never easy. I suspect Ipsw, Birm and Wrexham are also distorting the expected salary levels too.

Has that happened since the robins revival?

If someone moves on, Bidders maybe. If anything happens it will have been lined up for a while.

To an extent. Wilson? Maddison? Gyokeres? Hamer? But that’s my point really. Retention takes as much cash as acquisition.

Wilson and Maddison left before Robins. The others were sold when we wanted to rebuild the entire squad.

So what’s your point? I’m saying backing managers can include retaining your best players as well as buying them. I don’t care if it’s Don Mackay, Russell Slade, Robins or Lampard. Lampard is the current manager and he is being backed.
