Only 4 teams have conceded less than us in fairness and thats with us playing kamikaze football
You cant deny the way we play means we can get caught , i dont think stoke have better centre halves than we do of it helps
But it’s exciting isn’t it?
Yeah it’s great but it doesn’t make Liam Kitching a good defender.

We defended brilliantly at Southampton with 10 men, it's not as though the defensive skills aren't in the side. But it does excuse some of the defending when we're so gung ho.
When we played 5atb for a period of games last year we were far tighter defensively with the same players and a far worse keeper.
Just opened the door to "yeah but kitching didn't play in that one"We defended brilliantly at Southampton with 10 men, it's not as though the defensive skills aren't in the side.

Pretty sure he’s just doing what he’s told, which I’m happy about. He’s a good footballer and if we have to play in a way that suits the players we have, then that should be the way.
But it does excuse some of the defending when we're so gung ho.

Don't need to, I was there.Might want to look up the lineup for that game
Not just that, but we are often guilty of giving it away very cheaply, either in advanced areas and getting caught on the break, or with poor, risky clearances. You cant deny the way we play means we can get caught
Check the xG for the games we played 5 atb. The strength of schedule wasn’t all that either. Ultimately, who cares if you concede just over a goal a game if you’re creating chances to score 2-4? We also scored considerably less goals back then too.But it does excuse some of the defending when we're so gung ho.

But they don’t do either. To defend the box. Statistically crosses from wide are less likely to result in goals than balls into the space between fullback and CB.
100%. The other point is we’re committed to this ultimately now. Which is stressful and fun and the same time! This is the point. We're only ever going to get automatic promotion by winning a lot of games and taking risks. We were never going to be a Burnley (and nor would I want us to be).
That's why we play such a high line, with full backs bombing on. Until teams got used to it, it meant we completely blew lots of them away, especially at home. Now, they're getting wise to it. It still works, but it does mean we're vulnerable to decent teams who can break, particularly because we're asking Grimes to cover for the full backs, and he doesn't have the speed to do so.
All this is why having the best goalkeeper in the division is so important and why Rushworth is my player of the season so far. We need 8 more wins and a few draws to get to 85 points - and although it's not great for the old ticker, I'd say this is the best way to go about it.
Being a good defender is what makes Liam kitching a good defender.Yeah it’s great but it doesn’t make Liam Kitching a good defender.
But they don’t do either.
Lampard must be an incredible manager to have us on autos form throughout his tenure while starting shit defenders every week.Yeah it’s great but it doesn’t make Liam Kitching a good defender.
He didn't rate lampard as a manager eitherLampard must be an incredible manager to have us on autos form throughout his tenure while starting shit defenders every week.

I don’t even know what that question is supposed to mean sorry. What’s a minute of clean sheet?
We’ve conceded 4 fewer than Oxford and Portsmouth if that helps.
So? Their defensive records aren’t that bad, the problem with those teams is the goals scored, both have less goals than games played.I don’t even know what that question is supposed to mean sorry. What’s a minute of clean sheet?

With full respect to Lati for his attitude, it’s pretty damning on Woolf who cost us the best part of £4m and can’t start ahead of him
Van Ewijk's defending a 2 v 1 near the end was excellent defending. He got his distances spot on, preventing a pass to their player alone in the penalty area. You have to worry that MVE, JDS going walkabouts while we lack the pace to cover them may be very costly in the end.
It just happens too much, it needs more control. Although we have to be honest that MVE and JDS aren't great defenders anyhow.
A shame the defenders bought in Woolf, Brau, KKH don't seem to have been a success and don't offer a better more defensive setup option.
We need one other quality defensive minded player to come in with pace to lower the risk.
Thought he played well, in an open system, of Frank's choosing.Yeah it’s great but it doesn’t make Liam Kitching a good defender.
They don't play like thatOn the flip side, them committing too many men forward could also be suicidal
I don't think they could be arsed, because of the weatherIs it just me or do you think our ball boys weren't briefed last night? They were particularly awful at getting the ball back to players and looked begrudging to even get off their stalls
Do that against Norwich, we will be 3 downWe can argue about the ability of our defence but in reality we play 3 at the back and one of those is Grimes. We simply don’t play with full backs. MVE and Dasilva are wide midfielders pushed right up to our wingers. You look at last night and most other home games and we could easily be 3 down at HT. But hey, that’s how we’re doing it. Enjoy the chaos.
I think MvE's a very good defender, but he's a very good defender who is asked to play in a very attacking way (which he is also extremely good at).Van Ewijk's defending a 2 v 1 near the end was excellent defending. He got his distances spot on, preventing a pass to their player alone in the penalty area.
Sakamoto coming on for the last 25-30 minutes in these last two games a nightmare for defenders, and has basically created a goal in each shift. I still think ALL our goalscorers will hit form in this run now; Rudi is the biggest worry in that regard as he does seem a bit all over the place compared to the others. These next three games a real chance to put a winning run togethor prior to the potential 6-pointer vs 'borough on Feb 16...
Anyone worried we made hard work of that should watch this. Not the only Millwall fan to say how much effort their players put into their performance, players will raise their level to against the league leaders especially the teams chasing us. We'll be in for a lot of games like this but it's massive we now have quality in depth to switch things up and find a way to win.
So? Their defensive records aren’t that bad, the problem with those teams is the goals scored, both have less goals than games played.
5th in the league when it comes to goals conceded
- Ipswich 24
- Stoke 25
- Boro & PNE 29
- Cov & Bristol 51
Meanwhile, we’ve scored 61 goals and have a GD of +30. We’re the only team that’s averaging 2+ goals a game so mathematically, we’re averaging 2-1 every game…
It's nothing to do with Lampard's strategy, high blocks, low blocks. Or any of that. That is just excuses.Christ the whingeing is pretty tiresome. We can sit in all games, but I can guarantee we probably wouldn't be top if we did that.
