Transfer Rumour Bassette to Kaiserslautern (1 Viewer)

Yeah. But transfer market includes all kinds of crap. Best probably to look at league only

PL: 297m (just under 1 in 3 - played just over 1k minutes)
Champ: 201m (just under 1 in 2 - played over 7k minutes)

For all their other faults Haji and Ellis have outstanding scoring records.
Even BTA, in the massive thread over the summer when people were crying about needing a striker, we had 3 good scorers on the books.

Haji is a streaky goalscorer so I could see the logic in Lampard putting him back in. I genuinely think when Haji scores, he’ll go on a 3-4 game run of scoring.

The only real surprise to me this season is BTA because he should smash his record at this level and his underlying numbers are much better than last season already. Frankly, never felt it was BTA to be a real top striker in the league to be honest. My only concern is that he may not return the same player.

Hi everyone,

1. FC Kaiserslautern fan here.

I came across your board because of the Bassette loan that was announced yesterday.

I've read a lot of opinions and reports about him, especially regarding his "healthy self-confidence."

What I'm finding a bit lacking, however, is an assessment of his actual playing style. What kind of striker is he?

Our current tactic consists of high pressing and winning the ball back in the opponent's half with quick shots on goal. Is that a style of play that could suit Bassette?

I've read some opinions here that his "first touch" is supposedly poor. Does he have technical skills and does he master deep runs with a good basic speed? What about his football intelligence, especially in the box?

Points like his aggression and mentality (I saw the video where he provoked a red card for the opponent) could be a very good fit for our club, that's a Playstyle what we're usually known for. 😅

I’m very curious to hear your thoughts. Wishing you all the best for the rest of the season.

How much money have FC Kaiserslautern got to spend - we are preparing to take loss , but 2 Million Euros would be acceptable.

I believe, this area shouldn't be unrealistic. We invested €1.8 million in our record signing this season (Naatan Skyttä).

But one thing at a time, he hasn't even played a single minute yet. 😅

Bassette will get number #17 in our team.

Thank you for all your posts, it's very interesting that opinions differ so much (that's no different in our boards).

Like i said, the "shit house mentability" of Bassette could be a great fit and is normally highly valued by our fans. We love to see such Players in our club, but hate them when they're playing somewhere else. 😬

I'm really curious to see what he can bring to our football and how he integrates here.

Unfortunately, over the last two or three transfer windows, our club has become somewhat of a complacency zone. There are several players who are simply waiting till their time/contracts runs out - especially on the bench.

But i don't think that Bassette will also take such an role, therefore he is to young and (hopefully) too ambitious.

If you like, I can give you an update on his performance every now and then - I mean, at the end of the day, he's still your player, right? ;)

Hallo Freund.

Bassette, I think the fame got to his head, got a bit too cocky.

I don't know what level of football you have in your League but I hope he does well for you and for him. 🤗

I hope he does well and wish him the best. I enjoyed the new odd goals he scored for us, and I hope he can settle in over in your squad quickly and amicably.

I meant to say that I wonder if playing him as a striker is really his best position.

He has pace, so he could be a winger, and his energy would be handy in a number ten role. We will never know unless he is given the chance to play in one of these roles.

Yeah, I always thought he could be a wide forward.
It was Bassette who put in the cross for BTA's goal against Tottenham and he looked pretty good that night.

We leaked goals whenever he played. He was good to watch on the ball for a CB though.

Thank god we got rid and stopped leaking goals

Don't feel any ill will towards Bassette. However, at the moment I am filing him with Kastaneer. Players who looked as if they were really going places in their early careers then grind to a halt.
I know Kastaneer was shit for us, but looked like a world beater in his early development years. We thought we had pulled off a real coup when he signed and our recruitment team at the time said so.

Problem is when you invest in potential very few are dead certs to bridge the gap from where you found them.

Every player has a level and everyone in the end finds it, or it finds them. Does luck play a part in it yes, but majority end up where they are supposed to be.

Hey guys,

*Bassette-Broadcast-Information-service* here ;)

He converted a penalty in yesterday's XXL test (three 45-minute periods) against FC Zürich to 1-0, we won the game 3-1.

Because our nominal main striker Ivan Prtajin is still in rehabilitation training after a muscle injury, Bassette was allowed to be in the starting eleven. He was substituted in the 66th minute for D. Abiama.

Unfortunately, the game was conducted as a secret test without spectators. Therefore, I cannot say how Bassette performed on the pitch.

However, I believe that his first goal in the first game is not the worst start. Furthermore, he has already had the opportunity to get used to our stadium - next week the „Betzenberg“ will probably be sold out again for the first match of the second half of the season against Hannover 96 (approx. 45.000)

I‘ll keep you guys updated, have a great and football filled sunday.

That’s good to hear. We I’ll be sad to lose Norman at the end of the season when you buy him for £5m.

Hey everyone,

I hope you're all doing well?

Yesterday we played our home game against the fifth-placed team from Hannover and won 3-1.

It was a typical "Betze game" – after being down 0-1 and having the opponent receive a yellow/red card, we scored three more goals in the last twenty minutes. An incredible Performance and absolute act of will, for whom i admire our club so much.

Bassette was in the starting lineup and played for about an hour. He was then substituted for Ivan Prtajin, who scored the equalizer.

You were absolutely right, if I had to describe Bassettes character and playing style, I'd also call him a "dirty street dog," which isn't meant in a negative way at all.

He was still very over-motivated yesterday; you could tell he's still lacking a clear understanding of our style of play and tactics, but that will (hopefully) come in a few weeks.

After about half an hour, he was extremely lucky not to be sent off with a red card. I'll link you to a highlight video showing the foul.

Otherwise, I was very surprised by his speed and dynamism, a facet we haven't seen in our game before – this can only benefit us in the second half of the season.

Next Sunday, we travel to Gelsenkirchen to face the glorious FC Schalke 04, who are currently in first place.

Wishing us luck and Bassette more playing time!

Here‘s the Video, I hope you can watch it and that it's not blocked by a country restriction.

Its blocked for me - but I'll try on another device. Sounds just like I remember him....we too hoped he would fit in with our style of play, but never quite did. Still want him to be successful.

I feel this is an overall similar experience to Bassette at Coventry and the key difference in the end will be if he eventually can get on board with the rest of your team and how you play.

Thanks for the update

I watched the full game, thought he should have been sent off first half as you say. I’m not sure whether or not he was instructed to, but he was pressing the goalkeeper as aggressively as he did here last season.

In fairness...I would have licked Matty Godden if I could have got close enough to him and he hadn't taken out a restraining order on me

Never been able to hear the term Gelsenkirchen without hearing it in a thick Liverpudlian accent since 5 Live’s coverage of the 2006 World Cup when Sheila Fogarty said it was most Scouse name ever.

Looks like he got himself a massive sleeve tattoo. This is why you can't let your teenagers go abroad for a year.

Edit: looked around further and he had it while still at Cov. I otherwise don't retract my comments just because the truth got in the way.
