Any dishes you found good that surprised you? My wife's Vietnamese.

In Melbourne it’s pretty international and we get a lot of things of different cultures so already very used to having Bahn Mi’s on the regular, Pho, Bun Bo Hue etc. Some of the dishes are just slight variances of what I’ve had before but prior to here I hadn’t tried Bahn Xeo’s but it’s nice having the freshness of the salad ingredients here with your dishes if that makes sense.

It’s more the fish markets where they have the big fish tanks and trying some of the things I haven’t experienced prior that were probably different for me. There was some soup that had catfish in it that was sort of sour that you dip rice in, that one surprised me, didn’t think I’d enjoy it but it was nice. Can’t remember the name of it though. Bumped into a Vietnamese friend over here and he took us out for dinner one evening to one of the fish tank restaurants and we had some local traditional dishes

In Ho Chi Minh City, having a foot massage and watching the game. You’d struggle to find a better way to watch the game.

I’ve only managed to top this once which was a pretty wild one.

Yeah the seafood varieties have been my favorites. Your sour catfish soup sounds like a Canh chua or a variant of it.
I was keeping up a Vietnamese food thread on the Off Topic for a while, I should revive it. Keep on the lookout. Enjoy your holiday!
