Do we go to a back 5, or hope Torp is fit and go the same again?

It's a long season and I really don't think starting Eccles for a third time is worth the risk.

Could go two up top with Allen and grimes in the middle but that could be very lightweight.

Alternatively you throw Allen and Andrews in if there is no torp, very much sink or swim.

Rushworth
MVE
Thomas
Kitching
JDS
Grimes
Allen
Eccles
Saka
Wright
BTA

Is more than enough to deal with Wednesday. They'll try hard but we should have more than enough to deal with them.

My instinct would be to make some changes here to avoid taking on further injuries.

Rushworth

Thomas - Woolf - Kitching

KKH - Grimes - Allen - Dasilva

BTA - Simms - Wright

If Lampard thinks we have the legs to do it unchanged though lets go for it.

I think we'll change shape if Torp is out.
I think it's what Lampard had in mind when he changed it last night, though hopefully Torp will be OK.

Possibly Eccles Torp Rudoni and EMC out. That makes things interesting, Grimes Allen and Andrews midfield? Or a 3 of Sakamoto BTA and KKH behind Haji?

I dont think the back 3 looked comfortable last night. I get that it was just to see the game out but it looked clunky to me, with no space for Grimes to drop in and dictate. I noticed Thomas's expression when Wolfenden came on and told him the set-up was almost like "WTF?"

Don't see why we would drop MvE ? He was still getting up the pitch into injury time

Exactly , why change it all around. Especially with a couple of weeks break after

The key thing is Eccles. Firstly Lampard said he was carrying a knock into the game last night so that needs to be assessed. Secondly three games in a week is a huge ask given no pre season etc so you risk him breaking down and then being out for a sustained period. Up to the medical team and Frank to asses the risk/reward of playing him again. But for me if there is a risk of him being out long term from playing against Wednesday I would sit him out. Long season and we already have a couple issues.

I wasn’t sure if it was because of the change to 3ATB or because Thomas was told to go RCB rather than in the middle

Could be completely wrong but looked like he was gesturing that he should be in the middle

Possibly. He just looked a little uncomfortable with whatever was being conveyed. I wouldn't want to see 3ATB unless injuries dictated it. I think it would hinder Grimes' role.

Didn't like us in the back 5 at all last night

I'd rather see us stick to 4 at all costs. If Torp and Eccles can't start, could we start EMC or KKH on the wing and push BTA/Sakamoto inside? Doubt Frank will do it. Hoping Torp is fine if it was just an impact thing, Eccles has come off in both games too so he might be able to do 50-60 mins.
