Just been having a look and he was unavailable for 14 league games last season. Over a quarter of the season. And now again, probably be gone until after the international break

Hes a decent player but as with Sheaf, whats the point if you cant use him??

Do we feel we miss him more or less than when Tats is out?

He's definitely a liability.

We miss EMC more than Tats imo.

I like EMC and I do think we miss him for flare and pace. I'm getting frustrated with the injuries we have on our players. You can go back to the league 2 days with 2 ACLs in Jodie Jones and Andreu.

League 1 Jodie Jones ACL again.
Championship- Dovin ACL, Sheaf made of glass, EMC, Wright, Eccles, Walker

In the play off season 22/23we were lucky Hamer & Gyokeres didnt get injured.

I get players get injured its part and parcel of the game. However, it does seem like we don't get the rub of the green when it comes to injuries and they always seem to be lengthy periods.

If you go back to the Pressley era, I don't think we had many injuries other than Reda Johnson, happy to stand corrected though.

It seems like players feel a niggle and that's it.

I'm not sure if it's true or not but I have a thought in my head that Nottm Forest managed a season including European games using only 17 players
Villa used 14 players all season in title winning season 80/81. I would think that figure for Forest wouldn't be far off

EMC at his best is a more potent threat than Tatsu, but at the average of both of their performances Tatsu is the better player and especially when paired with Milan.

I also think EMC has a broader range of performances than Tatsu does and so his worst games are worse, too.

That's a bit over the top.

His injuries are frustrating, as can some of his play as he seems to want to take a man on again after beating them rather than press the advantage forward, though I guess part of that is the modern game fear of getting dispossessed. I think overall he'd gain more times from pressing on than he'd lose the ball, but people tend to remember the times it went wrong more.

He's still a useful player for us, when he's fit.

As others have said, maybe he needs to change his training regime to reduce his bulk a bit? That one for the fitness and conditioning team to ascertain though.

Said something similar last season - his injury record since joining has been poor. Since joining us he’s started 24 league games for us, and been subbed off every time bar five. I like EMC a lot, he’s growing into this league, Lampard clearly loves him, and it obviously wasn’t his fault he got loaned back to Peterborough. But with that kind of appearance card it’s hard to see him as great value for money, even with all the goals and assists.

Underrated annoying part for me is how there doesn’t seem to be any youngsters in attacking positions even close to breaking into the 1st team squad to give us an option out wide on the bench.

I think the lack of attacking back up players on both flanks is a concern, its not that he's injury prone its the fact that if we had cover for both him and Tats no one would be worried. It needs addressing either by spending or bringing a couple through from the prospects at the club. The lack of kids able to break through points to how urgently the club needs a grade 1 academy to attract a better level of Junior players.

Their xG and xA stats are very similar. Sakamoto is actually ranking slightly better than EMC than this season, although EMC is slightly ahead on a Per90 basis.

In their last 23 matches sakamoto has 4 goal contributions.. ephron 12 .

Sakamoto doesnt seem to be offering us much end of last season going into this season

We looked better when Asante was in the team tbh

Definitely. Especially to a team who play bloody wing backs.

Not really. He’s showing nothing to suggest he’s remotely capable yet at this level

not really, FL thinks he is nowhere near ready and is happy to player strikers, full backs, and even potentially a back tree before give him serious minutes in an important match.
Turns out that having one decent game vs a L1 b team doesn't suddenly make you ready to start for a top 6 championship team. Who'd have thought?
