Remember when Hull gambled on all those expensive loans to make the playoffs? That was crazy.
I remember people going crazy that we weren’t doing the same. They were miles off the top 4 when they decided to do that, was always going to blow up in their faces.

Remember when Forest got promoted with all those loans? And then they still stayed up? And finished in the Europa league spot last season?

I can see the pros and the cons for going ott with loan players. Its not always necessarily a bad thing. But, as Hull showed, can backfire.

Oh no, not at all similar. Just I imagine it contributed to their current financial issues!
Haha oh yeh was gonna say. Sunderland would have been the same if they hadn’t gone up because they effectively took out a crazy high interest loan mid way through season which would have left them in the shit if they didn’t go up. Lucky for them!

I feel immensely reassured by DK’s approach. Buying stadium might sound reckless to some, but it’s not a pointless punt - it’s a smart commercial money making move. I think how we buy players is the same - he knows he won’t lose money on Hughes at £10m+.

Imagine if you were Kitching or Thomas and all the talk of Hughes possibly coming in. Would you raise your game to make sure you keep your place or wilt? Admittedly we need another CH but this is could be a positive thing for performance enhancement of what we have too.
If you're sensible, the you realise that you need more quality players than you can get in a starting 11.

They both will want promotion, and will both back themselves to be good enough to be a big part of that. I'd expect them to welcome the squad being strengthened.

If we get a new centre half the quality of Hughes, all three would get significant minutes across the season.

Generally agree with you other than the last part, which we don’t know! I would hope we have looked into it enough to get it right though.

He's a good defender, and his passing through the lines and carrying of the ball been crucial and paid dividends already this year.

I've said previously, it wouldn't surprise me to see a back 3 played at times if we signed Hughes

Could see a back three option with two forwards instead of wingers as an option.
