I just wanted to share that @MalcSB passed away last night after a short battle with cancer. He'd shared in the Politics thread in December that he had recently been diagnosed with brain cancer.

It has been a short battle, diagnosed mid December, then had surgery to remove it the tumour on News Years Day. Unfortunately, when the tumour was tested it was confirmed as stage 4 Glioblastoma, which is the most aggressive type of brain cancer. The prognoses was anywhere between 6 and 18 months.

He decided to fight it and had two rounds of aggressive chemotherapy and radiotherapy, however, an MRI in July showed that not only had the tumour returned but 3 more had developed and that there was no point continuing with any treatment.

There had been a rapid progression in his illness over the last 6-8 weeks, before passing away peacefully in his sleep with his wife holding his hand.

I had no idea he was even ill. I stopped going on the politics thread some time back.

It's a big shock.

RIP Malc. ❤️

Fuck. So sorry to hear this. My eldest has an incurable brain tumour which has just required a second bout of awake surgery. Five years on from the first, his tumour has been downgraded from a glioblastoma to a
Grade III IDH-Mutant Astrocytoma for which we are grateful but it’s a shit hand to be dealt.

Brain Tumours are the biggest cancer killers of under 40s and yet treatment and survival rates has not really improved in the last two decades. Some will remember that I raised some money for a brain tumour research charity 5 years ago and I remain massively grateful to all of you who contributed to that (some anonymously).

Anyway sending massive love to Malc’s family and friends. I always find RIP messages a bit trite but I hope those who knew Malc will know that he was a force for good on here and that many people who didn’t “know” him will feel loss at this news.

Love to you all.
