Southampton, Ipswich, Leicester and Blues distorting the fees for Championship players, plus they haven't all finished splurging on the PL loan market yet. I wonder if our recruitment team have been 'allowed' much scope in this area (in terms of our recent scarcity of inward loans).

Tanganga going to Sheff utd. We should be all over it but again Doug going for the cheap approach
Again, why do people just assume:

1 - that we haven’t made a bid for a player
2 - more importantly, that the player actually wants to join us.

I personally don’t get the obsession from some for the player either. There are no links to the player with us and in truth, there are better options out there.

Hes one of the best CB's in the league. Who are the better options?

So FotMob has the following CB’s with a higher rating (24/25 average) than Tanganga.

Danny Batth
Bobby Thomas
Callum Doyle
Anel Ahmedhdozic
Jack Robinson
Harry Darling
Ben Cabango
Jimmy Dunne
Rob Dickie
Charlie Hughes
Luke McNally

From the CBs that were rated better I’ve taken out any that were with clubs that got promoted, so the list contains players that were all rated better but not promoted out of this league, so what makes him one of the best in your opinion?

I think if the club had a spare £8m then there are names here I’d prefer the club push for over Tanganga, but this is just my opinion obviously.

It’s a name that keeps cropping up, but I think there are younger players with a higher ceiling which could be available for less which maybe better suited.

Heggems not on that list yet has just gone for £10m. Looking at ratings on fotmob is a stupid way to judge players.

It’s not an exact science, I will concede that, but I would say it’s a better way to judge players than throwing names out there and hoping one sticks.

Those 2 players (particularly Robinson) are absolutely garbage, and if we signed either, I'd be gutted.
Exactly. Its a stupid way to judge players.

In particular in a defence, if you have 1 brilliant CB surrounded by shite, and the team concedes 3 as a consequence then it brings the rating down.

Totally reasonable, but that’s two out of eleven players listed and two of the players in the list we’ve been linked with.

I don't believe we're just bidding on a CB and a backup winger either. Reckon we've got another up our sleeve, not sure what position, a wildcard.

I am wary of Woolfenden in the same way I’m wary of anyone from that Ipswich team. Very much felt like a team who were greater than the sum of their parts and I’d worry that when taken out of that environment some of them simply aren’t that good.

How much you reckon woolfenden would fetch?
I honestly have no idea on that one. Really hard to judge. I guess they wouldn't really want to strengthen a team that many may consider to be 'up there' so we'd have to give them something to think about rather than low ball them.
