Some of you on here need to give your heads a wobble, this isn’t like the 2022/23 season where our marquee signing was Kasey Palmer.
• We’ve signed a quality RB at this level who will replace MvE when he goes eventually
• We’ve signed a goalkeeper with hands so we’re not struggling without Dovin
• We’ve sold a CH that clearly wasnt good enough for a profit

This is the best position we’ve ever been going into an EFL Championship season to go up, low player turnover and a quality squad that has made the Playoffs before and FA cup semi final, the togetherness in the squad is something different the players will go ti war for eachother.

Frank Lampard is committed to the cause, and I for one am thankful he is here he’s proved he can change systems and be flexible, are we not forgetting we used to complain about Robins stubbornness to playing one way and having no plan B? Frank has a clear plan A and is willing to change it up whenever he needs to.

We will be doing some dealings behind the scenes and with no nit-bits coming out of the club we won’t have another Stamenic situation, its obvious we need some to go out before we bring in outside of the obvious CB to come in. FL, DK and DA will all have spoken about what is required for this season and what we will need, if FL is happy he’s happy. When did we become such an entitled fanbase to be expecting money to be thrown around and expecting to win every game 4-0 otherwise its FL and DK out?

We put in a good performance against Hull on Saturday where we clearly ironed out some of our defensive issues and we’re only going to get better going forwards the goals will come, attacks win games defences win titles. Great things are built from strong foundations and FL is laying them foundations, after all we’ve been through we should be grateful for where we are because we could have been back in Sheff Weds shoes, could have been in Bury’s shoes, could have been in Crawley’s shoes. But we’re not we are in the best position the club has ever been running financially effective and cost efficient, a good squad with low turnover and higher ups commited to the cause.

Lets all sing together, get behind the boys. PUSB

Well said !! … whilst we may need to revisit this after 10 games, 1 game in is just daft.

I just posted something similar in another thread but from a different angle. All rosy from where I'm stood...

I think the general consensus is that we're fine. I can't see how we're deviating from the 5 year plan, and DK, tbf to him, is doing exactly what he said he would do

*Reach play offs 3 of 5 years* excluding the season he came in, we're 1 of 2 with the same squad that reached last years play offs, so we should be thereabouts

*Keep hold of top players* unless the money is right. We're not selling our assets on the cheap anymore. Either right price to suit us or go elsewhere

*Target top players* and money is available to do so. The market is easy shopping around in the basement bins, this market takes patience and time

*Improvements to the clubs infrastructure* CV wise good appointments behind the scenes and improvements to match day and ryton

I think some of the fan base needs to temper expectations, personally, from where we've been, I'm just enjoying the ride

people are forgetting how good wright (without injury and fed balls correctly!) is.
get everyone on full fitness and im sure we'll start firiing
our midfield of grimes, rudi and torp i think are top tier (plus sheaf when fit plus eccles.
defence has been added too, new LB and RB, additions we desperately needed for cover and alternatives.
plus seeing the likes of perry and andrews potentially coming through, great to see.

I think the squad is in a good place generally give or take .. I think the clubs in a good place

The footballs just a bit boring tbh and there is a real lack of a different approach if things arent quite working with the original gameplan , we are far too predictable.

Thats where Im at

what im seeing, and we saaw alot of it at the end of last season, is that saka and EMC will beat the final man, and the final ball is poor, and were not adapting to the capabilities of our striker (be it simms or wright)

We can just be a bit more creative and a bit more unpredictable .

It doesn't have to be death by 100 crosses every match

Maybe some enjoy it but I think its effecting the output of both wide men and strikers

Expectations are high, people are excited, and getting OTT!

Not the first result we wanted, but looks at the blades 1st result.

And, it's a forum, people post minute by minute emotions. How many times have we seen wright been called unplayable, then not good enough. Both he and Simms scored plenty in 23/24 so it's not like they can't do it.

People also get so impatient for signings. Problem is, they are all interrelated. You can't buy until someone will sell, and they want their replacement lined up etc etc

Just need to settle into the season!

Spot on, it’s been 3 months without football. it was great to be back Saturday, and TBH we weren’t that bad, another day MVE’s shot goes in and we get that penalty. just enjoy the season

I think most feel the squad is decent at this level and capable of play-offs.

Where I differ is your assessment that Lampard can change systems and be flexible. And that is where I fear we will fall short by not getting the best out of that squad.

Apart from playing 3-5-2 shortly after taking over due to injury (which we did really well in) he installed the system he's used at all his previous clubs at the first possible opportunity and rarely deviated for it since. Results have still be pretty good, but the shortcomings seem pretty clear. We can't break down a low block and our CF's are on a hiding to nothing.

So although it's only one game this season, we've had an entire pre-season to see how he would look to change things when we were having the problems we had last year. The answer was absolutely nothing in terms of formation and tactics. Even the subs were a bit odd. Moving BTA out wide when Wright is clearly better there than him, and also a clearly not fit Wright coming on instead of Simms.

As always we need to see where we are after 10 games or so, but after seeing us towards the back end of this season and our approach in that first game I think those same deficiencies may well be there.

Generally the squad is in good shape with a few deficiencies in certain positions which were created prior to Lampard's arrival. Once these have been resolved things will really kick on in my opinion

Agreed. The deficiencies though are due to squad gaps being filled by some players who are there just to make numbers up. Oh, and we need to replace a CB that's just been sold with an upgrade else what was the point

Said something similar the other day.

We’re a play off contending team, which means we won’t win around half our games.
I find it strange that so many on here accept that we won’t win every game, yet have had a panic attack because we didn’t win our opening game.

The performance on Saturday, whilst not brilliant, certainly wasn’t bad.

It’s the usual bed wetter brigade who are making the same hasty takes that look stupid year on year.

If we play as we did v Hull week in and week out, we won’t lose many games and will be up there in the playoffs. It was frustrating not to win but it was otherwise a decent performance, a 1-0 win and we wax lyrical about how we dominated the game.

A lot of people have just spat the dummy and said ‘this, this and that player is shit’.

Absolutely 👍

We put in a decent performance and with a fit and firing Haji - or a bit more luck when MVE hit the woodwork with the goalkeeper beaten - we would probably have won.

We all know that we ideally need another two or three players but if we don’t lose any of our top performers - other than MVE who I am resigned to losing - I’m sure we will at least be challenging for the playoffs.

We also won't have 2 top end Championship quality players for every position. It's not feasible for clubs like us.
People need to accept were not going to get rid of Allen or Lati and replace them with another Rudoni or Grimes.
I'm sure we'll try are best to, but expecting it to happen all over the pitch is unrealistic.

Thread full of cucks

Thread full of people who actually give me pride in our club.

We’re not Portsmouth, who after going bust not all that long ago, are demanding they spend big money.
Most of us want CCFC to be sustainable

It was just flat from my perspective and not what I was expecting, don't know if that's a deficiency on my part

I'm unsure of what a ban on greeting the players has on things for instance who's instigated that and what is the reason, damaging to the naturally evolved connection from player's to fans IMO.

A lot of TLDR posts here.😁

The nature of football fans is to have unrealistic expectations and be hype critical if the least little thing goes wrong.

From where I am standing it's all fine we just need a bit of luck.

Players meeting the fans is great, until there is a dick in the crowd.

For all we know, someone may have had a go at one of the players on the way in last season. That isn't great match prep
