Simms time… (2 Viewers)

Was Saturday's start to the season any better than Stoke away last season?
I mean I’d take a shitty 1-0 every week, we’re not going to be playing brilliant football TBH we’re pretty boring to watch, maybe we’re hoping for a bit too much, we’re a hard to beat team who grind out results,

Not saying he is good but couldn’t have been worse than Wright v Sunderland so there has to be another reason he didn’t use him. Maybe they have words behind the scenes 🤷‍♂️
Maybe. I think we’ll know more tomorrow, if he doesn’t feature at all then I think questions can be asked.

I'd say so, that was a very poor performance
Agreed. That was a shocker.

Didn’t help that I was sat in the home end, alongside some Staffordshire ne'er-do-wells, who spent a solid 20 minutes taking the piss out of Twist & Shout, by repeatedly “woo-ing” in my ear. Absolute dole-rats.

The halftime oatcake was decent though. So, every cloud…

I watched an interview with FL on CBS before the Hull match & he was saying how he wants us to be entertaining to watch & attacking etc - hmmm

He said the same last season so you‘d think we’d be getting the players in to do it ? King said he’d back him

Hardly going to say ‘I want us to be shite to watch and we will be defensive’

There really isn’t a lot you get from interviews with Lampard, especially with some of the shite questions aimed at him.

I haven’t 100% given up, but even I’m at ~90%.

We know he has it in him, but whether it’s confidence or mentally or both, he isn’t quite there.

I hope if he doesn’t leave FL et al find a way to man manage and motivate him.

Not sure what the stats say, but anecdotally we looked better with him in the 9 role than both BTA and Bassette.

Not including the one game Wright looked good at CF.

With all due respect that’s bollocks. Wright was so abject in both Sunderland games that even if Simms was worse than a cone in training he still would’ve been a better option.
There has to be another reason unless FL is that stubborn that he won’t bend his rules even when it’s to the detriment of the team which is not a good thing.
To add to your comments. I agree Wright has been woeful in a few games. Perhaps it's a case of the manager feels he has something to work with as opposed to Simms.

Has Simms shown anything on the pitch that makes you feel he should be picked?

I know Simms missed two easy tap ins last night but he won headers, worked hard and looked like he wanted to play. The cheering when he did something that we expect was genuine. Let's hope he can continue it and start putting those chances away. Could've been 3-0 with someone else up top last night, would've been 0-0 without him on the pitch.

I don’t know if I’d necessarily class either of his chances in the second half as easy tap ins tbf. By all means he should have done better but the first one came to him when he wasn’t in-line with the goal and would have taken some angling to get in and he was under some pressure for the second one. Haven’t seen them back tbf but both felt more like ‘should have done better’ than ‘had to score’.

WTF?? Some on here are never going to be happy! Simms scored….that’s all we were asking for and needed, ok he missed chances but he was in the right place for them
Give the bloke some credit he looked well up for it and showed a single lone striker is not one of our strengths, but pair him up and he’s there.
Surely Frank can see the difference with two up front and will accommodate that formation against Derby, otherwise his tactics should, rightly, be called into question.
