What do we think?

One game in so conscious of not over doing it. However, we were a bit predictable and easy to defend against toward the end of last season.

We have a lot of the ball but I’m not sure there’s enough variation or intensity to the play, and our most effective play is the overlap and cross/cutback which has become a trademark and subsequently easy to defend against.

I worry our attacking/attackers woes are more linked to this than anything. Predictable patterns and slow build up that mean opposition defences are prepared. Doesn’t matter how good your striker is, if the defence is organised you’re going to struggle.

Mason clark and sakamoto clearly being asked to stay wide which is hindering our attacking game massively .

Even when the fullbacks get high the wide men are never 5 yards away from them doubled up when in my mind we should have them inverted and playing inbetween the striker and the fullback giving us the option to either attack the box or put a cross in .. the midfield is there to support the fullbacks arent they ?

Strikers are left isolated and simply cannot give us the input we desire

We are an incredibly boring team to watch

I think one of the key things we need to change is to play more one touch football in the final third. I think Sakamoto, Wright, Rudoni and Torp definitely have the ability to do it.
Our build up play is ponderous, so I think any striker selected currently is going to find things difficult.

I agree , I think currently unless we have a striker thats fantastic in the air they will struggle for contributions
