Eccles starting to train next week I think. Someone mentioned above, very challenging complications from a dead leg! Can be serious, know someone who had to retire from pro game after a dead leg and subsequent complications.

We definitely need to start with Simms.

We can’t risk BTA or HW getting injured and if Simms is staying he needs game time and goals under his belt and if he’s going we need him in the shop window to prove his fitness if nothing else.

Simms is a real enigma. I still think he can be a decent player but it’s quite a while since he showed he has what it takes.

We had decent bench today, but already serous gaps in squad showing;

centre half - Lati injured, Perry only option
Right wing - no one back up tats, Raphael just not at level I’m afraid, certainly currently
Left wing - won’t use haji there seemingly and brau not wide left.
Midfield - can’t risk grimes, torp and Rudoni really?! Eccles and sheaf injured

striker - I just don’t know anymore 🤣

I would be happy with that.

I’d prefer not to risk Grimes but with Sheaf and Eccles out we are thin on the ground for that slot. I suppose we could try Lati.

I think Lati is injured, he would have been on the bench today if he wasn't.

Would like to see

Simms
Sheaf
Raphael
KKH
Bidwell/brau

Come on for sure(sheaf unlikely of course)

If lampard wants to keep some continuity in the other positions I don't mind that

Luton will be tough even though in league 1 now and I would like to advance for once. In this cup you only play a few games and you are on latter stages not to mention drawing a prem team doesn't mean definitely out either.

We have the squad to give it a good go

If it's the plan going forward just play the team from Saturday, let them try and find their rhythm. It's August no need to worry about burnout yet, it's way more important to find form

As per always I'm happy to play a second string team in the League Cup, but want full strength teams in the FA Cup, as the importance, prestige and capacity to make money out of both is chalk and cheese.

To me the lower price of admission compensates for those upset at paying to watch an under strength team play. History tells you we are likely to play our squad players so if it bothers you too much don't buy a ticket expecting anymore. At the end of the day though if any our squad members have any pretensions about making it in the Championship, they should still be able to beat a team from a lower division, so it shouldn't be a given that we are definitely going to be knocked out by playing an under strength team. The likelihood is that the opposition will also play a changed team so we will not necessarily be playing Luton's strongest team anyway.

FWIW I would be quite happy for us to play the following and see if they sink or swim:
Wilson
KKH, Perry, Lati if fit (if not Kitching), Bidwell
Rodrigues, Allen, Andrews, Brau
Simms, Bassette (or Obikwu)

Have a strong bench if needed and hopefully they win regardless.

Its always a weird game this one. Do you rest players for the league or give them minutes to get match fitness. Personally i think we have a big enough and good enough squad now to make lots of changes. CB is our only issue with lack of players and pretty sure Thomas took a couple of knocks on Saturday so will be rested.

Wilson
KKH, Perry, Kitching, Bidwell
Rodrigues, Allen, Torp, Andrews, Brau
Simms

I work with a Luton fan, he also thinks they will make a lot of changes.
