Lati is a defender suited to 3 CB formations, he’s not defensively strong enough to be a CB in a 2 CB formation nor is he quick enough to be an out and out RB. As you’ve mentioned before, his knack for diving in front of players to win free kicks makes me nervous. Being uber harsh, I think he does it to paper over the fact he’s just not that great a CB and officials help out poor defenders too often because they can flop over and win a FK.

It was only a 10 or so minutes, against Luton I’m sure Sakamoto was almost playing as a WB out of possession and the ‘back 4’ looked more like a 5 before the red card.

Completely agree, nothing wrong with him as a person, you'd want all your players banging on the door wanting to play wouldn't you.
He's a good versatile player at this level, if he wanted to play somewhere where he will get more minutes i'm sure there would be plenty of takers.
Who knows whether he will push for a move, but either way we do need to improve the defence if we want to make sure we are up at the top throughout the season.

Déjà Vu, there was rumbling that we wanted him last summer got my hopes up then and trying not to get too excited. I think he'd be perfect for us, just about the top level of player we could hope for 🤞

Feel like this would have been picked up by someone if it was close to being done. Transfers from the Premier League don't tend to happen without a journalist being briefed first these days.

Would be a great signing. And instantly our best CB despite his relatively young age.

However I would worry about his pace, or more so acceleration. Can be mitigated by players around him.

And I’d hope FL will have picked up a few tips from playing with one of the best, yet slowest, CB’s of recent years.

They probably prefer Bauer as he has experience on his side.
