Where's this £5.5m come from? (1 Viewer)

So just playing catch up...Rangers wanted to take Rushworth from Brighton...they/he said no and we apparently were going to get him on a 12 month loan but now we're potentially bidding £5.5m on him on a perm deal??

Think it's the other way round.

If I've got it right, we offered to buy him for £5.5m, but they said they didn't want to sell, but a year's loan is being agreed instead.

Yeah, so we bid £5.5 million in the summer, Brighton said no. Then we have agreed a loan, wouldn't shock me if the player wanted the move and as such rejected rangers

Doug has said multiple times that if a deal makes sense there's money to invest. This particular player looks like a profile that is very likely to return a good profit - hence we made a bid.

I don't think it's the case that there's a finite budget (apart from the cap which is set by the league). It feels likely it is more of an upper limit on how much money can be spent without a high chance of profit (for example: Grimes) and how much there is to spend when it's very likely we will make a profit (ex: Rushworth).

Really, for a keeper who will compete with another keeper we paid good money for ??
Meanwhile we still have the prospect of Simms and BTA up front 🤦‍♂️

We've made one signing for cash all summer with the Vik money. Let's not make out we're out splashing cash🫠🤣

For all we know the terms offered were miniscule. We clearly have no money without sales..

Not having 2 good GK's could easily derail our season. Things quickly went downhill last season when Dovin got injured. A GK of the calibre of Rushworth for £5.5m would have been a very good investment.

This £15m seems to be some kind of investment. We don't even know where it's come from. How much for running costs? How much for new signings?

We're not far off being a very good side with decent reserve players. Yes a goalscoring forward would be a bonus. It might have to be a loan but King prefers to bring our own players in. But good strikers come at a premium price.

Anyone got a number for Dale Evans?

It wouldn't be 5.5 mil straight away would it.
The way we have done deals in the past it would have likely been 3m ish plus other bits at certain stages.
Even that 3m probably all not up front!?

Dale Evans as the new investor?
