I do get a bit of a square pegs round hole vibe with Birmingham's business so far this window. I can see several of their signings not working out as they inevitably hope.

With a high volume of signings there is an inevitable number of failures as we've seen ourselves. The other factor is of course the time it takes the team to gel. Our stable squad should hopefully be advantageous.

I would not be shocked if Doug did have a go at the deal. 1 mill to Blackburn and reported he wants 16k a week could be doable being as his value is up around 7 to 8mill.

But if the ship has sailed im not sure Doug is one for looking back.

Isn’t he available on a free due to his contract expiring?

Wouldn’t be breaking the bank for Dolan. He deepens our squad but isn’t a massive step up

I'm not sure we would be breaking the bank. If we have to pay Blackburn £1m in compensation, but his true value is in the region of £7m we would appear to be quids in, as long as he fits within our wage structure.

Having said that I don't think he would initially be a definite starter, so while he would undoubtedly improve our squad depth and options, that would probably put him off joining us.

Without getting into the weeds of the Vik sell on clause; after his move, Hamers likely sale & moving Milan on for a decent fee along with a few fringe players, are we confident that should fund the summers business without having to sell another big hitter ?
Vic looks increasingly like a done deal, but unfortunately, the fee is no longer as high as we hoped. Gus may still move but we cannot rely on it happening, as last season was the optimum time for him to go further up the football pyramid.
The fringe players are currently our squad, so to move someone on the offer has to be good and we have to have a better player lined up. There may be players fans want to see move but they have very little sell on value. Of the players who would attract a decent fee, Haji and Eccles are injured and MVE and Rudoni would be a big loss even with a new right back already signed.
A loan out is possible, but there must be takers. Loans are usually used to improve young players not always to offload unfancied players.

Who else do we expect to go out on loan?
Andrews, Obikwu, Basette, Raphael?

Massive couple of weeks for Rod, Bassette and Obikwu this pre season could determine the futures of them at the club. Andrews is one i think the club will take time with and make good decisions on his pathway.

But the others its now the time to shit or get off the potty. They either fit in and add making impacts or they fail and find a club that's suits them. Big investment gone in and we need to see a return. I like Bassette and liked Obikwu from what i have seen. I just hope for the sake of the club they bridge the gap and give FL some real selection issues. We need to be successful with our development of players and 5 or 6 have a chance to shine.

But harsh on Obikwu who cost us nothing and has scored goals in men’s football.

Does it and does it?

He'll likely move but the talk on the fee is currently all speculation, I wouldn't believe everything Fab Romano says about Vik ;) Remember when he left us?

Vik is clearly kicking off to get a move. Reports say Vik is willing to take a hit on his percentage of the fee which shows a player who backs his own talent. Think Sporting will have to accept a drop on the amount they want or have a very unhappy player. Probably still be a substantial sum but nowhere near a 100 million euros.
