Yep that's my reading. Both have other preferred targets and are making noises to push those into action.
I have a feeling he'll end up at Man United. His age makes the price tag less appealing. United have fewer options. Just feels like the right fit to me.
Personally I think Arsenal should definitely go for him, he's at coming into his peak years and they are crying out for a top level striker to slot into their team.

In my opinion, Vik seems like the perfect choice for Arsenal (do Liverpool really need him) but I keep seeing rumours that the deal is on one minute and off the next. Their new sporting director seems to be a big fan of him anyway, so who knows.
