Fair point, how about 8 goals in 9 starts from centre forward ? Point is he’s our record signing, brought him in as a centre forward to score goals, which he has, I’m not really bothered how he plays so long as keeps scoring, 19 goals last season and prob would have been the same again this season, why would some fans want to replace that,

the thing is though if it's application and effort levels which it definitely looked like - how do you "work on" that?

Against a team in cruise mode,who did the goals come from in our barnstorming spell, they can't have all come from defenders, I advocate a system with 5 at the back.

He wouldn’t of got 3 in that game playing off the left, that’s my point, a Fit wright playing a whole season as centre Forward gets you 19/20 goals, why risk trying to replace him, unless he wants a move then keep him

He also gets 19 goals from the left. He scored 16 in 23/24 and underperfomed his xG by -2.3 xG with only Godden doing worse, -3.5 xG. This season Simms and Bassette are our xG under performers (as well as Mason-Clark, BTA, Sheaf and Kitching).

Interestingly, Rudoni’s xG this season v last season was slightly less but unlike 23/24, he over performed his xG this season.

Haji Wright is well capable of scoring 20+ goals in a Championship season.

not sure he does off the left, looks lost out there, but agree with the last bit, we’ve got a 20 goal a season player and some want to gamble on replacing him, his bad run towards the end coincided with torp not playing and him moving back out to the left,they started to link up well,

His stats from 23/24 suggest he’s a goal threat playing upfront or LW.

Haji Wright hasn’t actually hit ‘form’ under Lampard, he had one game where he was top class but aside from that, the other games he scored he didn’t play particularly well. He should have scored goals v Hull, Plymouth and Luton all playing LW. His goals v Burnley and Plymouth were nice, but he was otherwise pretty underwhelming aside from the Sunderland game.

The point about Torp is interesting. He could have a good season next year if he keeps fit and consistent in form. I’m in two minds whether or not we need to sign a CM to pair with Grimes to suit Lampard’s system.

We’ll def need something different against teams that sit in, that’s where hamer/ o hare were good, Could make something out of nothing, thats why I can see sheaf being moved on, torp can do that job and adds a bit more or we go for someone new, still think if we get a centre half who can play out then grimes pushes up more, don’t think we’ve seen what he can actually do yet, more to his game than what he’s been doing, but I’d be gutted if wright goes,

I wouldn't really say he played overly well in a lot of games he scored in last season under Robins either. He was just very effective when it counted.

Given the extend to which our forwards have struggled in front of goal this season I'd be very surprised if we look to move on the one player actually capable of scoring 20+ goals with a full season behind him.

There is a difference playing on the left with a back 4 rather than a 3/5. He clearly isn't a left winger to my eye and pushing him out there to accommodate an out-of-form Simmo just has not worked for him. Obviously we wouldn't have been playing this way if Ephron was fit. Wright is easily capable of 20 goals a season in the division and his record over the last 4 seasons is strong. He'll be in demand for sure.

In the play-off semis he had no passion, no fight, no desire, and no footballing skill. Worst performance from a Cov player all season and he cost us the place in the final.

He's not consistent enough to be our main striker and isn't going to get better.

Our defending cost us our place …… Wright could have compensated for those inadequacies but all 3 goals were from poor defending.

He’s averaged a goal every other game since signing.

You can complain about a lot of stuff, but he’s a consistent goal scorer.

Yeh tbf you can't say he's been anything other than a good signing. I've been reactive on him so i get it, i was getting frustrated with his form towards the end of the season and then his play off performances tipped me over the edge, lets be honest he was fucking hopeless and if he'd been even mediocre it might have been enough to see us through.
I have no strong feelings about him going or staying, if he stays then fine, he's a decent player, if he goes for a big fee then that is also fine. Leaning towards wanting him to go though, it feels like the right time and i can't think his value will be higher by this time next year.

He is capable, but I think there's genuine animosity towards him for his complete lack of effort in the two playoff games.
He can still score goals when he can be arsed, but I think it's best for all concerned if he were to move on now.

He needs a fresh start, and we could do with the money.

Yeah same. I just think let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater, if he goes, as frustrating as he is, we’ll need to find 20 goals a season from somewhere. Like you I think I’ve hit the end of the road with him after the last two.

I'm assuming we've both hit the end of the road with Simms and BTA too? Means a whole new strike force, which i'm ok with tbf.

It’s a bit drastic to be honest. 2 will leave at an absolute push and reading through the comments on several threads, a lot of people stand to look v silly.

I have to agree. It's not at all productive or realistic for the club to do swap out its entire strike force.

We need some element of continuity going into the new season and getting rid of all three strikers will probably end up doing more harm than good.

Also, they need to have takers first which are willing to match what the club value them at otherwise they'll be going nowhere.

It's fairly obvious one certainly needs to go though.

Dunno why you get so grouchy every time our strikers are mentioned, especially precious about Simms i've noticed, which is strange. It's just forum chit chat my guy, chill.

It's not even beyond the realms of possibility. BTA was rumoured to be off in Jan, would be surprised if that didn't circle around. Think we saw what Lampard thinks of Simms in the play offs. Wright is probably the least likely to be moved on but its just an opinion and the opinion of a few it seems, that he's probably at his peak value now and it might be the right time for everyone.

We were talking about Twitter and social media in general. Obviously what i said hit a nerve.

I don't need to check myself, i haven't slagged any of the players off. Massively reaching if you think saying i was frustrated by someone's performance after hearing a couple of things, is slagging someone off.
I've stuck up for all of the forward players and talked about how we could bring players in to help improve the way they play in this system, also said i think Wright can tear up this league, you've clearly swerved all of that though.

Weren't you the one on here not long ago getting all upset because some people 'liked' my posts. Clearly you have taken offence to me posting anything at all for some reason. Maybe just scroll past or block me.
