i think simms has been poorly managed this season, starting with robins who didn't know which hole to shit through after adi had gone.
lampard clearly likes confident people (kitching knocking his door asking to play. rudi wanting after hours extra sessions...), but simms isn't one of those people. i think it's just a case of manager and player not being compatible, not that simms has become shit overnight.

lampard played bta and wright upfront in the 2 legs against sunderland, having failed to turn simms' season around. both of which were poor. he has to live with the outcome of those decisions.
after a season of having real strength upfront, let down by the midfield behind it. it's particularly annoying this season to have sorted out most of the midfield issues to end up struggling upfront. it's a funny ol' game.

<<for the record, i'm a simms fan and a lampard fan. just telling it how i see it.>>

Its a good job we dont have a team full of players that need bitty bitty to perform otherwise we'd probably have not even got close

According to the forum’s main ITK, Simms very much is one of those people.

First time I saw Simms play was at Exeter in a friendly and the last time I saw Hamer in a Cov shirt. I thought Hamer was brilliant and we need him and Simms was rubbish ( what have we done) , we all wanted another Vik. He's obviously improved a lot since then but I can't help thinking he's never going to be the sharpest of strikers, he's very reactive.
I don't think his personality helps but he can't help that ...he's just a quiet lad in a very egotistical profession.

Who is the main ITK , saddle i assume who seems to give us the best information.
This guy:

See i've heard completely different, it's one of the reasons he doesn't bother me.
Was told he is very low maintenance, comes in get's his head down, works hard and follows positional instructions.
Stays behind quite a bit and works with the defenders and some other players on late arrivals in the box and set pieces.

i take it you're not a wellbeing coach.

I'm a fan , hes underperformed for a long period wether hes started / benched doesnt matter

It cant be 2 managers , other players etc etc fault , at some point he needs to step up and do for himself what he believes he can do

Get him gone

He has had some brief spells where I thought, oh thats why we bought him but many others where I’ve had to wonder if he’s even playing in the correct division.

Had we gone up that means a profit of 148 million rather than 150 million. If Lampard felt he could be the difference to us going up I'm sure he would have played.
More likely is that he was injured given he has been carrying an issue for a while now and we just put him on the bench to try and kid Sunderland that he was an option off the bench. Lampard doesn't seem the vindictive type to make an example of someone
He wasn't injured

Lampard got it right and it’s extremely simple. Wright is our best forward. BTA is our next best. So Simms didn’t play.

Frustrates the hell out of me. He is just so nearly in everything he does.

Nearly in the location of the ball but isn’t quite. Nearly wins headers but doesn’t, nearly intercepts passes but doesn’t, nearly drops the player marking him but doesn’t, nearly scores a goal but doesn’t. I could go on but you get the point.

Both legs were made for Simms. Not once did we properly try to get at O'Nein who's 5'9.

We were pumping balls into the box for most of it.

Simms against his old club, fully rested against CB's who had played two long, difficult games should have been brought on.

Disagree. The form Simms is in no game is made for him.

Was simms a Robins signing. I ask as I remember just after we signed him.ans he played a pre season friendly and scored twice Robins called him out and basically said he was lazy which to this day baffles me why he would have said that about a new signing
Got a direct quote calling him lazy?

Really, who's going to sign him then?
Several teams in this league were reported to be in for him when we signed him. I don’t know if we’ll recoup our fee, but he has enough pedigree, potential and track record in this league for someone to take a punt on him.

People tend to really underestimate the size of the market for serviceable Championship players who we don’t want. Someone paid us a fee for Kasey Palmer! Simon Moore is in the Championship playoff final next weekend!

He’s only 24 and has shown signs of being a goal scorer at this level and has all the right attributes that someone will think they can get the best out of him.
