I thought it weird. Simms not played in playoffs? 99 appearances. One game triggers 2 million payout to Everton?

Had we gone up that means a profit of 148 million rather than 150 million. If Lampard felt he could be the difference to us going up I'm sure he would have played.
More likely is that he was injured given he has been carrying an issue for a while now and we just put him on the bench to try and kid Sunderland that he was an option off the bench. Lampard doesn't seem the vindictive type to make an example of someone
Check.99 games

Weird, but would explain his omition, but then again why have him on the bench???

And let's be brutally honest. He's been fucking shit for ages. I wouldn't want him anywhere near our first team if I were Lampard.

I kept wondering if he was injured and that's why he didn't come on
...but then why have him on the bench and he certainly warmed up a few times.
Who is to know what would have happened, but I would have liked to see him in the first leg, especially how the game was developing.

because he'd be on the bench if we couldn't afford to bring him on. Love people's powers of reasoning.

I'm still convinced there's a player in there. It wouldn't surprise me if he went on & did well elsewhere, but it seems Lampard doesn't believe he can get it out of him so probably best he moves on in the summer.
I agree, there are the ingredients, depends on him ultimately and the system I think, he’s not a loan striker.

think may be best for both to go seperate ways, like you say, wouldn’t surprise me to see him score regularly at next stop.

Bit of a strange one, the Mboro game at home was the biggest game of the season, simms starts we win 2-0, he did okay, then doesn’t get a min in a game where over 2 legs wer‘e slinging crosses into the box and need some height

He was poor against Middlesbrough

I would guess most people who have managed a him feel the same

We didn't owe any payout for appearances

Management patience has ran out
Exactly, there’s no way lampards thinking of keeping him, prob wasn’t impressed with him at Everton either, shame, really want him to come good, proved he can score at every level he’s been at

Do we reckon that’s him out the door then? Wonder if we’ll be able to recoup what we spent.
You would guess so, wouldn't you

I have stood by him all season and did last season too, but the last time he scored was Feb 15th. When you add in to that, his inability to hold the ball up to allow us to build an attack, you are then left with a big problem.

He may well do well elsewhere, but you would have to think his time with us is at an end

Don’t think we can wait for him to come good can we , but you just know whatever club he goes to he’ll be a totally different player, 6 ft 3 shithouse. If your a defender you should hate playing against him, it’s the opposite.

If there was an appearance payout it wouldn't be anything like 2 million, 100,000 I could believe but 2 million, laughable. Anyway it's clear he made way for Haji, when BTA went on he took EMC's position.

Way too risky to not play him for that. Let's say we sell him and he tears it up next season with another club and bangs in 20 goals. Lampard and King would be in for an absolute roasting.
Ellis Simms couldn't tear his way out of a wet paper bag, let alone tear up a league. He failed to look good in Scotland and even I (an overweight, 40 something, Sunday league GK) could look good up front in Scotland. He's scored 40 goals total in 5 years, what's the odds on him doing 20 in 1? Very high odds that's for sure, regardless of where he is and in which league.
Time to give up on him. His size probably made him look better as a kid before all the others caught him up, but as a man, he still looks like a boy half the time. Fair play to him for managing to make a half decent career for himself, but he's as much as a professional striker as I am.

*Edit: as a side note it was always going to be hard coming in a filling the boots of Gyokeres. We, as fans, had high expectations after Vik. I thinknthe thing that's annoying isn't the fact that he's not always on his game, it's his lack of effort when he's not in the game that's the issue. Nobody on here, or in the stands expects any player to be 100% perfect 100% of the time. Every player is going to have a bad game from time to time. Every player is going to make mistakes during a game. That's the league were in and the level of it. But when he half heartedly bimbles about and apologies to opposition players for fouling them, you need a career change.
