Carlton Morris is 29 - will want a 3 year contract (minimum) and has had a poor season in the Championship. I'd much sooner have Keiffer Moore of the two (even if he's older). I'd take Bundu, from Plymouth, over the pair of them.

Keiffer Moore’s non-penalty MPG (384) was worse than Simms. Anyone suggesting Moore or Morris to replace Simms has lost the plot or hasn’t looked at data.

At least when people suggest Bundu, he’s had a good season with 10 goals and 6 assists. At 28, and this season being a potential outlier, I’d be less keen.

In the striker department, it’ll be 1 in, 1 out so I wouldn’t expect much movement there.

Interest in BTA seemed pretty concrete in Jan so you'd think that might come back around. Also interest in Eccles and Lati seems to have some weight behind it?
What are your thoughts on Simms? Seems fairly clear he's not really in the plans.
Yes there was firm interest in BTA in January, i think that Eustace is a fan of his. I'm not really up on other teams finances so don't know where he would stand at Derby if he wanted to pursue that. Perhaps MR would want to have a look at him as it was him that pushed for that signing to begin with.
With Eccles, he's adamant that we will see a bid for him, not necessarily that he is not in Lampards plans or anything like that, i think he's just heard of definite interest in him. Same with Lati, still don't know who was asking after him in January but he said it wasn't Burnley at the time. I think Lati wants regular game time, which is fair enough. Same with BTA, if he wants to go somewhere where he is the main man then they will push their agents to try and get it done no doubt.

My thoughts on Simms are quite placid compared to some on here. He really doesn't bother me as much as he does others.
He's had his setbacks this season and i'm sure he'd be the first to admit it's not gone as he'd wanted.
Ultimately he was a player that we brought in to develop, our big signing was Wright.
There's been some nonsense spread about, that he is one of the top earners and cost us 8m which doesn't help.
I think he and BTA have been unfairly compared to Wright who cost us 7.7m, the scrutiny they have faced is harsh imo.
Personally i don't think any of our strikers are going to thrive in this system with the players we currently have, one big problem this season has been too much sideways / backwards passing, we are really lacking in players who are willing to try and get past their man or be brave enough to pick a pass through the lines on a consistent basis. The evidence is there for all 3 of them having struggled in this formation.

I think there's been some exaggeration from people saying he's not in the plans. Lampard put out what he thinks is his strongest team over the two legs, that's fine. He rewarded BTA with a start after a good cameo against tired legs against Boro.
When he took BTA off in the first leg he put EMC out there as he obviously thinks he is what we needed to try and break them down, obviously wanted to leave Wright on through the middle, he's the manager so if he thinks that Wright was the one to break them down then that's his call.
The thing with last night is once it gets to a certain point in the game, do you stick or twist.
He obviously had penalties in mind after we equalised, so he wants to keep Wright on.
If he brings EMC off, and switches Wright to the left to put Simms in the middle, then you have to rely on Wright to track back and do some defensive work, i don't think based on his efforts last night that we'd have got that from him in all honestly. So BTA's energy was probably the thoughts in his mind.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, ifs and buts, i genuinely don't think he was freezing Simms out. I think he had penalties in the back of his mind and stuck with it.

I think a contributing factor with the criticism of them is they were brought in to try and replace big shoes in Vik. What happened with our development with Vik is not likely to happen often at many clubs. He's gone on to be brilliant and will earn a big move, but in reality, how often does that happen to a championship club.

You then have fans looking to what's left to reproduce what we had, in reality, it's not going to happen again.

I personally would be happy to see Wright go in the summer, if for a profit. That's based on what i've seen and what i've heard in the last few weeks.
If there is a profitable bid for either of the other two, let them move on and wish them well. I'm sure will both go on to score goals in the championship in the right formation and right environment.
I just want to see players here who want to really play for this club and the fans, and see us to the premier league.

Reminds me of a young Matty Godden

Stockport have also just scored an audacious equaliser. If that had been in the PL they’d be creaming themselves for weeks about it
Yeah, with probably a bit more strength and pace about him. I think one of the key things to get right is the off the ball work of any number 9 we bring in. Simms and Wright just haven’t got the ability or willingness to press effectively

shame if we did sell him,we‘d need a proven goal scorer at this level to replace him, fit and he’s 19 goals a season, personally hope he stays but if not we could make a couple of million profit on him

Yeah my opinion has only been swayed based on a couple of things, irrelevant really what we all think when it comes down to it though isn't it. We'll just have to see what happens.
Aside from Piroe, there hasn't really been a prolific championship striker this season. We've been quite good in sharing the goals around, so if we can see a striker (or two) that can come in and play in this formation, adding in some goal scoring wingers, i think we would be good. Failing that, they need to bring in players that can make our strikers thrive in this layout.

Think they need to really persist with Bassette next season, has all the attributes of a great striker.

Ive said it since the first time I saw him play, he’s got a bit of Vik about him

He is likely to bulk out in the next few years which will allow him to hold off the defenders who are taking the ball from him rather too easily.

My concern is more about whether his temperament and character makes him a bit disagreeable if he is not getting game time.

Burton Albion can confirm the list of players that are currently being retained or released this summer.

Six players are still in negotiations with the club in the hope of retaining their services for the 2025/26 season.

Max Crocombe, Ryan Sweeney, Jón Dadi Bödvarsson, Kegs Chauke, Finn Delap, Fábio Tavares and Kamil Dudek are out of contract this summer but have received offers from Albion in an attempt to keep them at Pirelli Stadium next term.

Can he shoot well or head a ball? Is he good at getting in the box, beating a man?
I don't see where you are seeing 'attributes of a great striker'?

He’s 20, probably came thinking he was coming straight in , gets his head down in the summer and he’ll get his chance again . And still think we’ll see a lot more of Raphael

Definitely don't think he's given up on anyone. Bassette is fine, just needs to be managed correctly in his development and he'll be a good player. His best years are well ahead of him. Just have to look at the age Vik was when he finally started to peak, younger players get written off far too quickly.

Spot on, didn’t spend 2 million on him because he’s a bad player, think it will be quality instead of quantity, then It’s a case of not as many injuries, it was a shocking season, needs to be looked at

The injury side of things has been off the scale this season. Hopefully the players get their injury issues sorted out as early as possible and come back all up to full fitness.

Must sign a Centre Forward who can hold the ball up, pass it and head the ball, is that asking for too much.

I've just been catching up with the threads and i think it's pretty much been alluded to in here.
You can't be getting the hump about not being played in your preferred position and then not putting the effort in when you get your chances to prove a point. Head turned or not, play till the end of the season and fight for your team mates.

Not sure how many times he's been watched. I just know they were in attendance Sunderland and West Brom at home.
I’ll be Ipswich they were linked with him before

genuinely I’m at the point after those performances if he wants to go let him and we’ll reinvest it. Don’t want players who don’t want to be here
