Funny ain't it? Others fuck up (Binks for example) but it's 100% Collins'fault. Wilson shows how poor he is, yet it's others what done it.
Neither keeper is better than the other IMHO.

Find the narrative “we didn’t turn up” weird. We lost due to a mistake made by a largely good player.
Wright was maybe the only player I felt that didn’t “turn up” and he’s still our biggest goal threat. There’s an arguments to be had over whether we’d have been better off starting a taller striker in the middle, whether Grimes was too negative for some periods of the game, our inability to deal with a low block and insistence on always playing a high line at home. All that, sure.

I don't know how you wanted him to position himself he has to try and cover the near post as well as the far post (which he was) .He got a hand on it it just wasn't strong enough.Personally don't think he was at fault for either goal

Also, don’t want to take anything away from Sunderland who I think executed their game plan perfectly, knowing it exploited our weaknesses. They defended the box so well and the finishes from the lads up front were very good. That Mayenda is a huge talent. It’s a risky game plan that paid off.
I would be surprised if they are not more expansive on Tuesday, but if they are not, all we need is a lucky bounce in the penalty area and we’re back in the tie. Low block is not without its risks!

Yeah, the "didn't turn up" is a nonsense really isn't it.
We totally controlled the game, but just found it really hard to break down their defence. We did have some very good opportunities though. That Sheaf one was a shocker.
In fact, whoever he signs his next contract with, I think he has have the caveat that he promises not to shoot. Ever!
It's such small margins in football. The ball was bouncing around their 6 yard box on a few occasions, but it just didn't land right for us. That's football for you.
And their keeper made an awful mistake, but got away with it. MVE makes a mistake, goal.
I fancy our chances on Tuesday. It's just one goal.
I agree with Lampard. For the most part, we played pretty well. It was just the final third where we struggled to get behind and through them.
Keep the faith. I am not at all despondent. We didn't play badly last night and we know now we can go toe to toe with them.
And forget about our away record. Just look at Sunderland's form.leading up to our game and the length of time it's been since they last beat us.
This is a one off cup tie now. Just need to score that first goal and it's game on again.

Mad that Sheaf is a centre mid and he’s pretty silky on the ball, but he’s also one of the last people you want the ball to drop out of the sky to on the edge of the opposition penalty area. Bobby Thomas strikes a ball well more consistently!
Look we dominated possession, were the team in control of the ball but it counts for very little when once again your strikers are weak. If we knew we were going to hit long balls then surely we needed Simms up front. He’s shit in the air but better than BTA. Lampard has made mistakes here again. Trying to compare Wilson to Collins is pretty pathetic, it wasn’t the best effort to save the first but the real problems lay elsewhere.

Dominating possesion isn't a positive when it's part of the oppositions game plan.

I’ve not read the previous 44 pages, but excuse my responses if it only repeats other posts.
1. They did their homework and “parked the bus”.
2. We were too slow in our approach play, as it allowed them to be set and double mark our creative players.
3. Our vulnerability to counter attacks is clear due to our high line and having CBs who are not the quickest.

Yeah, but then they did get lucky on a few occasions too.
Their keeper's dreadful mistake wasn't punished. Sheaf clearly should have scored. He was completely unmarked and about 8 yards out.
Then there was the one that was pinging around their box on the first half, where the ball could have gone anywhere.
Such fine margins at times, isn't it

Sheaf can't even get a shot on target let alone score!
And when you concede possesion you expect the opposition to have some chances, its inevitable, but we didnt create that much and we aided and abetted their plan to hit us on the break.

But how many times has he bailed us out with his pace when teams break. Il tell you how many, fucking loads
If it wasn't for Milans pace when getting back, we would have conceded an absolute ton more goals over the time hes been here. Anyone who goes to games sees what he does on the recovery, let alone how good he can be going forward
Hes our best RB since Roland Nilsson, and i find it very sad that there are people on here and social media calling him out

That game was a microcosm of our season - on top for most of it, can’t convert it into goals, and two defensive lapses result in goals from more or less the only chances they had.
Grimes was excellent - best I’ve seen him for us.
Thought Sheaf looked a bit more positive in and around the box.

I’m not confident now, it’s not like we have someone special to bring in to change things. Our away form has been pretty awful recently, Saka vanishes, Wright usually the same.
