The 'pressure' is most certainly not on them now with a 1 goal lead.We go into next week now as the underdog. It’s the position we have thrived in the last 7 years. Go and play with freedom and treat it with no pressure and I think we can win. The pressure is on them now.
We have nothing to lose nowThe 'pressure' is most certainly not on them now with a 1 goal lead.
All level and they have to adopt a different tactic at home to please a bloodthirsty, baying crowd then yes, but not while they retain that one goal lead.
Thanks for the educational. I really can't be arsed to research .You can literally search my posts at the top of the forum with the magnifying glass
Well said, that man.People need to relax. It’s the away leg in a play off semi final. We’ll win it. We won 4-1 at Notts County. We won 1-0 at Middlesbrough. We’ll be fine. It’s just an extremely annoying night. But Sunderland were a poor side tonight. And now have a very strange predicament of whether they stick or twist.
For the goal it came in with pace and the keeper had no chance. He’s brilliant in the air and we’re topping the charts for headed goals anyway.Issue was the crosses were all floaty nonsense that made it easy to defend.
They will only change tack if we score twice. And without putting several million crosses into the box I don’t see it.Well said, that man.
I don't think we played badly at all. We just struggled to break them down, but we are still in this tie and if we score first on Tuesday, it's all to play for.
Don't give up heart just yet.
Last time we played Sunderland, they didn't set up like they set up last night and Wright got a hat-trick.
We can still do this.
If we score first, it's back to even stevens. They will only change tack if we score twice. And without putting several million crosses into the box I don’t see it.
Watch it again - it wasn’t a pacy cross by any definition. For the goal it came in with pace and the keeper had no chance. He’s brilliant in the air and we’re topping the charts for headed goals anyway.
Get good deliveries in that box, bypass the sideways passing to nowhere. Get the wide players whipping crosses in until Tuesday.
The high line is a strange one for me. Do we have the quality for it? Feels like premier league tactics for a championship team
To be fair, Sunderland beating Coventry City in an association rules game of football has completely blown away this weeks headline news of a new pope and the 80th year commemoration of the end of the second world war in yurp.
Yes. Without checking, at least half of Simms’ few goals have either been headers or involved him challenging for one.Watch it again - it wasn’t a pacy cross by any definition.
If our tactic is going to be endless floated crosses and throws into the box then I’d consider playing one of our tall strikers up front
To be fair, that was the entire game plan, we have the players who can capitalise on mistakes.Disappointing for sure but when you shoot yourself in the foot you have to accept it, move on and recover.
The mistake from MVE was uncharacteristic and one he will recover quickly from, becuase he is a very god player.
But Sunderland played well defensively, and never looked like doing anything bar a mistake from us.
Credit to Sunderland for getting away with it though, and having the good fortune of our own mistakes.
But while we bossed possesion we did little with it. Their two banks of 4 made life difficult and needed someone to open up their defensive lines, and play through them. Torp is a miss in this area. For us Sheaf was just not contributing enough, and on Tuesday I would make a change there. Asante proved to be a bad decision against a strong centre back, and Simms would have given him more concern and added ariel power on crosses. Tuesday we have to look for goals and EMC must start with Wright and Simms down the middle. A busy Allen can give Sako and Rudoni time to create. Grimes is excellent. I'm just not sure about Kitching. Would Latibeaudiere be the energy to clean up and have pace alongside Thomas and give Grimes more opportunity to stamp out their midfield?
Not over by a long shot. We got it wrong, and we have a chance to put it right. I really don't think Sunderland are tough oposition if we bring our A game.
Not just the tree, there was damage to a wall as well.Though still takes 2nd billing to a couple of hobos chopping down a tree.
Wondering where his defence isBTW
What the actual fuck is Wilson doing for their first goal
This is what annoyed me tbh. It was like Sunderland had pulled off some tactical masterstroke but pretty much everyone could have worked out what they were going to do in advance, and even if they couldn't 10-15 minutes in it was obvious.Let's face it, he should have known them way in advance.
Well we ain't going up automatically that's for sureThere’s always next season, in all honesty though I don’t think we will ever go up through the playoffs
AGAINWright has been fucking terrible
Which just leaves us with bribery, or at least 6 teams getting points deductions for breaking the rulesWell we ain't going up automatically that's for sure
I'm wondering where his fucking wrists wentWondering where his defence is
OLE, OLEAGAIN
I don’t hold him responsible for a player being allowed to walz through on goal unopposed.I'm wondering where his fucking wrists went
He always has been suspect in those situations. Never seems to set his feet early enough or be in the right positionBTW
What the actual fuck is Wilson doing for their first goal
I'm sure there would be a lot more criticism had Collins been in goal . It was a pretty awful effort to save itI don’t hold him responsible for a player being allowed to walz through on goal unopposed.
Its a simple save , he pushes it into his own netI don’t hold him responsible for a player being allowed to walz through on goal unopposed.
It wasn't good, for sure.I'm sure there would be a lot more criticism had Collins been in goal . It was a pretty awful effort to save it
Not angling for an argument but which side did you think the attacker would try and put the ball in ?I thought it was just a clinical finish and still do watching it. Wilson isn’t the fall guy for the goal in any case
