Impeding requires:

“Impeding the progress of an opponent means moving into the opponent’s path to obstruct, block, slow down or force a change of direction when the ball is not within playing distance of either player.”
Dasilva moves across the back of the forward , if you look at the pitch lines you can clearly see this is the case .. its careless and a red card

Logged out Saturday... wasn't going to allow my week to be consumed by this game, which I still make us favourites to win.

Hoping for a confident, front foot performance, like we did against Sunderland & Baggies... rendering our goalkeeper redundant.

It could be a case of our recently improved home form getting us to Wembley in our next 2 games... You have to be positive!

Enjoy it for what it is... rather than going over the rule book for JDS's red!
Wait....what? DaSilva got a red? Was it warranted? And why hasn't it been done to death on here, if so?

While i think those that have the knives out for Lampard when he has us sat in 6th place and has turned the CBS into something of a fortress, when it had become more of a bouncy castle under Robins, are ridiculous... i'm struggling to give him the benefit of the doubt on Collins. Yes Dovin getting injured was a killer that can't be helped, yes Wilson is shite, but you cannot keep playing a bloke that's legit lobbing in a goal a game atm. It's madness.

Not sure anyone's got the knives out for Lampard.
Lose Saturday and I still think he's done a great job, but I will simultaneously think he's made a complete arse of this goal keeping situation.

Yeah, but he will have made a complete arse of getting into the playoffs too, from an absolutely fantastic position.

Is that a nod to who's in goal saturday? I expect BC to play now tbh, it's a huge risk playing either. (I would play BW personally)

Will be interesting when the dust settles to hear whats really gone on, know you mention hes fit @Saddlebrains but something doesnt add up with it all, lampard isn't stupid to keep picking him error after error.

The telegraph has reported that he’s not 100%. There was a discussion on CWR where it was noted Wilson doesn’t take part in the warm ups. This suggests he’s not quite right to play…

Then you have the ITKs who say he is fit and ready to play and even that he himself expected to play.

It’s all a bit strange.

Do you think it's fear that he thinks Wilson might do worse?

Because ultimately Wilson would likely make mistakes too and he would get the blame for that.

It's lose, lose really.

I prefer Wilson and I think he should play Saturday but both would likely make a mistake if peppered with shots like at Luton.

Collins will 100% start, have to accept that. We can all agree he's not at the same level as Dovin but from a team standpoint, we need to be doing better going forward. We've lost our prowess going forward over the last few games (excluding West Brom), not creating as many clear chances, not getting in behind, struggling to get shots away. Lost a touch of structure with Sakamoto going missing and EMC out, don't look certain on how to progress the ball.

Collins is not an ideal keeper to bring into a promotion battle but you have to work with it unfortunately, be strong defensively, prevent shots coming in and most importantly keep pressure in the attacking areas. West Brom was a prime example, minimise the pressure on Collins and we will be fine.

Middlesborough defensively have their woes and have been turned over from pressure quite a few times in the last 5/6 games. It's really a game for the likes of BTA and Bassette who will chase down every single ball and give them no time as the back (aware they are potential not as fit as we'd like). We will have a massive crowd backing us and I feel like some energy would get the CBS rocking. Simms has been a touch wasteful recently and his first touch is costing him. I think if EMC and Thomas are back it will help massively.

There's conflicting reports from different ITK's.

Collins v Wilson is the debate with no end.

The contract extension needs explaining. All I can think of is Wilson being sorted out with a living because of his chummy existence at the club. Any of them being no.2 next season will be shite.

Twist my arm I’d pick Wilson. But it’s like choosing between Anne Widdecombe and Susan Boyle.

He didn't make a mistake because he was getting peppered with shots, unless your talking about a session of Jagers the night before

Fully agree, Wilson is an awful keeper. But when it gets this bad you just have to try something else imo.

Contrary to my previous post I have a feeling we are going to pull a big performance out of the bag 3-1 Wright Simms and Saka to score

This is the problem with Collins atm. Even the theory of restrict the shots from the opposition doesn't work as we've now seen against both Burnley and Luton, he'll just go looking for a problem even when there isn't one.

I honestly think it’s a bigger headache than who to put on the left with EMC and Wright both in form.
Much bigger, you put EMC on the left and Wright in the middle... Simms makes that an easy decision by being hopeless and it's pretty much what we've seen Lampard do when they are all fit.

I don’t think he does. He doesn’t change direction. He’s heading for the ball. It’s a coming together, there’s no attempt to challenge or trip the player.

You aren’t going to convince me otherwise. A rule where a player can get sent off despite doing nothing wrong is a ridiculous rule and not what’s written in the laws of the game.

How is he heading for the ball when he’s running behind the player

All I want is a keeper to come for crosses catch them and command the bloody area.
West Brom’s keeper for me shame we didn’t get Cooper and he’s one of the best in the division imo!!

He's almost backed himself into a corner and it's now too late to pick Wilson.

Collins should have been dropped ages ago, but now it's unfair on Wilson to throw him in for the last game in such a crucial high pressure match.

If he'd had a game or two to settle back in it'd be OK, but I think it's too much to suddenly throw him in to this game, he'd be under such monumental pressure to perform, so I think Collins plays.

Thats exactly what he's doing mate

People don't want to believe it, Wilson is fit, has been for weeks

Lampard is just being stubborn

Lampard worked wonders to get us into a top 6 spot. But he's also the one costing us it

The elevation for Wilson to Buffon from Buffoon is all very good - until he actually plays again

Wilson is not an awful keeper. You don't win golden glove being an awful keeper, no matter how good the defence in front of you is.
He really is, his career tells you the story, not one season. Also just watching him with your eyes. If he was anything other than a very poor keeper there would be a load of clubs thinking oh Coventry have a golden glove winner they are not playing who we could pick up for fuck all, but they aren't, no one is interested. On top of that he's also just signed a contract to see out his career basically as a third choice, he doesn't even back himself.
