Lots of calls for a number of new signings in the close season, personally I don't think we need much. A sprinkle of quality and a little more depth.

I assume we'll lose O'Hare, Kelly, Moore, possibly Godden.

Tavares I'd give another year, I'd sign Binks on a permanent if possible. Add to that we've got a couple of decent kids who may train on, Sakamoto will be back, Jack Burroughs from his loan, a fit Jamie Allen, EMC already on the way. Torp a pre season with us.

We have a squad of our players, a year better, older and used to our system. Still young and now coached by Robins and Viveash with more improvement to come. Hopefully even if we added nothing, I'd still back us to have a much stronger start.

I'm looking at what we should upgrade. Burrows possibly from Peterborough but would be harsh on Bidwell or even JDS after yesterday's showing. Possibly a keeper, we have two reasonable imo, but if there's an upgrade out there and of course a number 10, not got any particular names in mind. Happy everywhere else tbh unless anyone moves on.

What do you think should be the priority positions and with a long season, is it quantity, quality or both you'd spend on?

I like a small tight knit squad, it's served us well, but past couple of seasons it's been that drop off in quality after key injuries that has seen us fall just short.

I think Wilson will leave to get more game time and we’ll bring in the Rotherham keeper.
kelly, Moore and godden likely to go (I’d keep godden but again he wants game time and it’s not guaranteed)
Not sure about Fabio but I think robins really rates him and possibly thinks they can improve him even more.
Mason-Clark coming in.
Sakamoto to replace O’hare.
burroughs may be given the back up to van ewijk role.
Binks on a permanent.
Another striker who has proven goal scoring history, but behind simms and haji in pecking order.
another central ball playing, tough tackling midfielder
Hoping to god we can hold onto sheaf.

Saka isn't a 10
Has anyone actually seen Burroughs play as a fullback? He was a midfield that played wingback as well when he was here.
No proven goal scoring forward is going really want o be 3rd choice

Don't know if we need veterans as our young squad has gained valuable experience this season .
Wouldn't mind a couple of mid-late 20s players like Mowatt for example but want us to stick to find young gems we can improve

I'd like to see a new keeper that guy at Rotherham even though they've had an awful season.

So many want this guy it's unbelievable. He's looked dogshit whenever I've seen him, he's been relegated so different mindset and let the most goals in the league, yet we're down on our two keepers, one was golden glove winner last season, the other a younger more capable who will grow with confidence this season. I'm all for an upgrade but don't see this guy as anywhere near that upgrade.

Which of the other new signings would you do without instead? He won’t come cheap.

Collins is perfectly capable - you don’t need a top goalkeeper to compete in this division, throwing resources at one is pointless if your outfield squad isn’t up to scratch.

A better keeper/s would have got us an extra 7-8 ponts at least , Wilson's mistakes , Collins was awful at Birmingham, Swansea last min goal, and I thought he should have dealt with the cross for Manures first goal.

You're assuming the keeper we bring in makes no mistakes. This keeper doesn't exist in the Premier League nevermind the Championship.

So we spend £2 million on a keeper last summer instead - who do you send home out of Sakamoto or Bobby Thomas?

We have been through this on other threads. ITK people say there is no cash for big spending. Last year we used the Big Vik money for a major overhaul (only 2 in the Sunday team survived from Luton). You can't do that every year.

If Sheaf goes he will need replacing but altho Collins has his moments, it will cost a lot for a marginal upgrade.

In midfield with 2 up front we can perm from Saka, EMC, Eccles, Allen, Torp, Sheaf or his replacement. Why buy am extra midfielder?

Two real positional needs are striker cover and at centre back.

The other needs are not about positions at all
One is leaders on the pitch. MacFadz was exceptional and we have missed that.

He may not like it but King has to get his head around the value of loans both for temporary expediency and long term acquisition

So would better strikers ? Have you forgot to mention some of the sitters missed early season?
Maybe we should replace Simms and Wright too while we're nitpicking

I don't think there will be wholesale changes. As much as people are pretending to be ITK or trying to sell him themselves, I don't think Sheaf is going anywhere.

The most important signing will be whoever we can get in to replace O'Hare.

People need to realise that big ticket signings 3/4mil+ are not going to be a standard occurrence, unless we sell. If we have 5/6 mil to spend in the summer I think we can get the 4 players that we need. We have scouted well before and we'll do it again.

My perfect summer window

Permanent: ST / AMC / CM / CB

Loan: CB / RB (hopefully cheaper than attacking players)

That would give us 6 players (including MvE) that could play across the front 3. A massive improvement considering we've only had 3 for the most part this year.

Pretty much this. With the proviso that if a top class young GK or LB pops up in our price range is pull the trigger on them too. Though i think Dasilva and Collins will improve.

Gyokeres surely on his way. We have to use part of that money to strengthen as it feels like we'll have a really good shot at going up.

I'm expecting about 5 or 6 to come in.

3 freebies and 2-3 we pay for.

Tavares recent sub appearances have made me think that depth out wide could really lift this team. Would love to see a couple of tricky wide players come in.

I highlighted lack of leadership back when we were struggling however on Sunday it was noticeable that some of the players were showing real leadership
Thomas with his aggression and presence , Eccles with his composure and covering , Simms with his ability to put us on the front foot and battle with the defence and lastly MvE throughout wanted the ball and wanted to push forward .
All of the above might not seem like leadership but when you've played team sports it is those sort of actions that galvanise others around them .
We've always had Bidwell and Sheaf who naturally lead but I thought Sunday showed real positives moving forward

I think Sheaf is at the peak of his valuation under us, considering his contract situation.

Depending on the model Doug is aiming for, that might mean we will opt to sell him and strengthen the squad with the proceeds. Can make arguments both ways - but I feel like this is quite likely to happen if decent bids come in.

He is immense. Wouldn't take anything under £15m for him. And that would be in 12 months time.
