Transfer Rumour Summer 2024 (3 Viewers)

Not sure if it’s been suggested, but perhaps the club have been aware of Sheaf’s potential to be leaving, hence the signing of Torp - and probably (tenuously at this stage) the link with the lad Kypriannou (spelling?) from Peterborough.

Is there any actual substance to the Sheaf/departure story? Aside from the usual ‘my mate Daz told me down the Rose and Crown, he’s Robbings’s handyman. Trust me bro’ scenario.
There was a strong rumour that Luton tabled an £8 million bid in January. MR batted enquiries about the truth of the bid by saying King will deal with any bids.

There was an 8Million bid from Luton

We rejected it

Sheaf also didnt want to leave

If anyone comes in with north of 12million expect to see him go
Umm concerning.

We need another 3/4 as it stands now. (EMC coming)

Then at least 5/6 will be going - so they need replacing

That’s circa 10 again! Granted not as big rebuild but, large.

Be huge blow loosing sheaf. He’s the last crown jewel of “old guard” - love us to get one more year / hope agent doesn’t start playing up.

Sheaf is under contract until 2026, so any sale should be on our terms. I’d hope he doesn’t play any games to force a move.

It would temper my expectations somewhat if he did leave, we’d need a ready made replacement in to compete.

If we keep selling our best players we're not going to build year on year, hence the slow start to the season.

Every team in this league has to sell their best players. It’s how you reinvest that counts.

The season they got promoted Brentford sold Watkins and Benrahma, their two best players. They used some to that money to sign Toney and Janelt and went up.

I look forward to the day it happens to us. 🥴

Extending Sheaf and an O'Hare replacement needs to be the priority.

Then another expressive CM (could be a youth / prospect), RW/ST/LW (ideally can play in at least 2 positions), CB (Binks).

That's 4 minimum (which would be brilliant) any more than that would be a bonus.

Robins has previously complained about the lack of bodies, so I would expect a net squad growth. I would think 6 more to come in, given the expected outgoings.
Three I would personally like to see would be Duk and Miovski at Aberdeen, and that Bergzorg who is currently on loan at Huddersfield
I would keep Tavares, as I think he could be useful when playing in a front 2
Agreed, our squad depth is ‘net’ 3 players down from last season. Our overall quality, imo, is better but we still have a busy summer ahead.

I know he's scored a couple recently but Tavares just isn't up to the level we need - he looked like a little boy lost when out wide against Maidstone - definitely need to upgrade from him

Agreed, other than the goals against Maidstone he was poor

I’d keep Tavares for his final year as fourth striker he’d be well down the pecking order, but he does score goals playing in his favoured position and he’ll be cheap and is a character around the squad it seems. Him and Allen and one of the kids (probably Burroughs) would be 23-25 in my squad. There if we hit an injury crisis so we don’t have to bring youth players in or change formation too much, or on the off chance they hit a vein of form.

Is there nobody we can part exchange him with that we are after in League One?

Like one of the Peterborough lads or perhaps Brannagan or Goodrham from Oxford

Even Godden, Allen, Wilson would surely do well in these level teams (Godden obv being ex Peterborough) but I could imagine Allen at Oxford

Don’t see the need in binning off Allen before his contract expires next summer. Yes his role has diminished but he’s a clutch player, the kind that gives it his all when he comes on, if he’s willing to accept that he’s down the pecking order and likely won’t get much match time why get rid? Would be great for depth. It’s not as if he’s completely lost his legs like Godden or Kelly.

In terms of strikers Godden and Tavares need to go. Godden a great servant but has lost it at this level which was inevitable, and Tavares for the sake of his own career needs to drop down a level or two even. Will never forget that goal v Preston but he hasn’t developed like we envisioned and it’s time he go.

I don’t think we need another star profile up top just yet, think it’d be wise to go in for someone like Liam Cullen that I’ve already mentioned, on a free who can slot in across the front where needed, as well as a big freight train type striker like Sinclair Armstrong from QPR. Strong, fast and only 20, with actual potential to be great at this level and beyond, something I don’t see in Tavares. Already a full Irish international, his contract expires this summer but the club have a one year option which will certainly be activated. Can’t see him coming if they stay up but would be a coup should they be relegated.

So many great opportunities for cheap quality players should that QPR team relegate tbf.

Sheaf’s here and he’s here to stay trust me, he’s very happy here with us and sees it as home, if he ever left he was forced out or a big club came in with big money, and I mean big big club

If anyone is interested I’ve made a shortlist of players we could realistically be looking at on a free transfer this summer from across England, Ireland, and Scotland. I’ve done my proper research and shortened the list down based on things I’ve heard as well as info on the web. Disregard the fifa ratings I’ve just used this site as a convenient means to build the shortlist.

Very nice, how much,EMC? Limits on foreign players?
He is on loan from the Belgium to the Dutch league not sure when his contact is up but 3 million with lots of potential to improve. Wings is an area we lack depth and while EMC will help, we need 4 to cover the wide berths and currently have Saka, EMC and Wright who i think Robins would like to see up front.

That Alan Browne is class. Would love him here.

What do people think on Binks heading into summer? Worth signing or do people think there are better out there.

For me I would sign him if he's not too expensive. Left footed CB's are hard to find at the required standard. As a 2nd choice I don't think we will find much better for LCB, he's had some good games and some not so good games, but think he is someone we can develop.

Not for me, we have kept one clean sheet with him in the back line, not been convinced by him as a defender. People talk about how he is ball playing, but I personally prefer defenders to actually be able to defend . Would rather spend any money on somebody who would threaten Kitching for a place, more than him allegedly him sticking up for Collins ;-)

I don't rate him either. On the ball he's been disappointing too.
