The only teams we’ve beaten in the top half is Sunderland & Leicester…

Gyokeres’ scored 12 goals against bottom half teams and a goal against Wrexham in the cup last season. Do they not count either?
Who said they don't count, I think you may have missed the point.

Last season we were more of a break away team. Most of our goals were from quick turnovers. Not sure we have the players for this ATM. That said I wish we were clearing the ball out of defence quicker. Against Preston their second was down to that, I would argue the 1st wouldn’t have happened if we had ran out as soon as the corner was knocked up field. Last night we were close to giving the ball away and a better opponent may have got something.

Not convinced with the defence right now.

Correct.
This was the intent for Robins this year. He said over summer that he wanted to move away from that fast counterattacking team and create a team that dominates the ball more.

That's shown clearly in the recruitment of the players we have, but still needs personnel in key positions if we want to make it the new DNA of the team

Crikey, Simms must think this is a tough school. Two hat tricks in just over a week and he’s being criticised…………….although his first touch back to goal is shit.

...have scored 24 goals between them this season. Exactly the same number that Gyokeres and Hamer had scored between them at this stage last season. Just saying.
Why are we comparing a striker and a centre mid to two strikers?

Both had iffy starts but have since found form and obviously have the potential to be good players at this level.

Our business last summer is starting to look good in hindsight. Not spectacular but you feel we’re now at a stage where ~2/3 good additions this summer should see us solidly in the mix for playoffs again, a good team at this level and not reliant on any 1/2 standout players.

Unfortunately, it is you who’s missed the point because I was being sarcastic.

There’s always an asterisk* whenever Simms does something well. Either the goal was ‘poor goalkeeping’, the finish ‘wasn’t that good’ or in this case ‘yeah he’s scoring but the opposition is in the bottom half’.

At some point, the armchair critics will run out of things to say.

I think they're all saying the same thing they've always said tbf.

I'm not convinced it's the way to go.

Dominating the ball made us slow in possession and finding it difficult to break teams down. Which led to us pushing up too far and then getting caught on the break ourselves. Teams started doing to us what we were doing to them. When we changed back we looked much better.

Possession stats don't necessarily lead to a better scoreline these days outside of the top teams. You need players a few levels above the opposition to play that way successfully on a regular basis. We're not going to have that.

Miss the part I said in the future?
Not at all. They're light years away from being Premier league players unless they undergo a massive improvement. If we went up this season neither will be good enough and will be sold .
Neither in my opinion will ever be premiership quality.

The Wright transfer had been planned prior to the PO final (he was invited over to watch it); he’d have been signed even if we’d have been promoted.

They’re one league off playing for a team who’s target is promotion so they do obviously do have the future ability to do so

Adebayo and Morris at Luton looked like they'd struggle but have both scored goals in the Prem. We'll never know if they can step up until we get there.

In fact they are playing for a team who's target is promotion.
You can't simply say they obviously have the future ability to play in the premier league . That just incorrect.

Yeah thats what I said, and I can simply say that as Simms has played Premier league and scored, Wright was wanted by clubs like Crystal Palace and I believe Everton in the summer so…

Simms getting even more ignored by refs than Gyokeres was. Defenders hands all over him, dragging him down. It was non stop yesterday, did the ref intervene once?

Both of them got ragged about and like others have said, he was quick to blow his whistle when they gave it back.

One thing simms don’t do is moan to refs about this treatment , defintley think he should do this more often
