2024/25 League 1 Champs?

Why would you keep Palmer? He's on big wages and delivers very very little for it

I think it’s just a consistency thing, but there’s a player in there definitely - wages aside I do think he’s a good squad player

I don’t know what he’s earning, and it might be he’s overpaid, but he was one of the few to come out of this evening with credit in my opinion

To qualify there is no one who has done more for us than Robins and as far as I’m concerned he has a job for life. But I think he’s been guilty of overthinking selection in this congested period. We’ve surely established the following by now.
1) Kitching and Thomas are our best centre halves.
2) Wright is effective from the left
3) Simms can’t hold the ball up
4) Bidwell is our best lb.
But we’ve tinkered endlessly. I also think he’s made the mistake of overreacting to the Sakamoto injury by abandoning what is very obviously our best formation. Just play the next best player in Sakamoto’s position. Simms would be better there than CF. MVE could do a job. I wouldn’t go as far as Tavares. We’ve solved a lot of issues this year - only to revert to what caused us issues in the first place.

Well, having watched the Preston game at the CBS last Friday and comparing against the game tonight (watched on TV with a bottle of red) that was a better performance. That’s all I’m saying. Fact! Still not good enough though. Disappointed. We had quite a few opportunities. Close but no cigar. Went to west Brom last season and I think they were better then. Today could have been a point. Very frustrated.

3 play off rivals, we've played Norwich, Preston and West Brom and lost them all.

After having seasons where we played our own game and beat teams going for automatic promotion, we have meekly surrendered to inferior teams going to the play offs, that's on the manager.

Not sure it’s on MR.

He has his faults and he’s tinkered a lot and made the occasional odd decision, but not sure he can be blamed for players making poor decisions, losing any sense of belief and having the resilience of tissue paper.

Why do you think he’s doing that?

He can't seem to settle on a team.

Why do we keep changing the starting line up depending on the opposition? We're supposed to be a decent team in this division. We should know our best 11, and the opposition should be changing theirs to play us

Simms and Wright are not top 6 forwards in the division - they are the flagship signings and whatever the excuses they are poor and underachieving - they need to look at themselves and do better

But against Preston and WBA the defence has given away soft early goals and then followed it up with another. Poor defending have allowed those two games to just unravel.

Oh well.
Disappointing, disjointed first half. First goal from them was a bit WTF but there's mention it was an unbeatable shot so would like to see replays again. I cannot feel that the defense shut off during their second goal. Much much better second half, but not enough to carry to a draw obviously. Too much shooting from outside the box that never really had a chance. The team has just been so off its stride for last month, which is disappointing knowing they can look great otherwise.

Still don't have my pork pie but it's a fish dinner anyway soon.

Doesn’t explain why though. Why do you think we don’t play the same XI each week?

I am back to being very concerned about Simms and Wright. For the money spent they simply do not look like good enough footballers.
I don't like to dig them out because of the price tags and Haji has done well out on the left wing and Simms had shown improvement over the last 8 weeks but for £11-12 million you would expect a little bit more and to be technically a lot better footballers

God knows mate

we went on that great run because we had consistency selection

And then Sheaf and Saka got injured and illness went through the camp and MvE got knackered and O’Hare started dreaming about La Liga. Yet this all seems to be forgotten
