That’s why you don’t manage a successful football team
Youngsters in certain positions don’t heavily affect the team. Wide forwards are one of those positions.
Centre mid isn’t
I’m with bsb would much prefer Andrews coming on than an unfit fosu for 10-15 minutes
Bit reductive to think you can just slap a youngster on the wing and it won’t affect the team.

......that would lack match fitness and are free agents for a reason.
Torp had no match fitness as the Danish season was over. If we get a free transfer in they might not be match fit for a month but would be for the last 2 months of the season. A contract to the end of the season if a player is good enough is a decent option.

Yet we can bring in a loan and slot them straight into the side and it won't affect the team. A loan that is going out on loan for a reason.

Eh? Is everything 'for a reason' now?

No match fitness after a season has finished? He has had 1 month off. Not like doing a full closed season or a player that's hardly played for ages.

Did you notice he isn't up to speed in the Championship? Yes he looks a very good player. So which loans were available that are match fit, up to speed with the Championship and good enough to slot straight in. How about with the ability of Torp?

It's amazing what gets ignored by some to try and make a point.

I’d say at least 75% were either saying he’s a sisu puppet or had lost the support of the fanbase due to the executive box and kids season ticket drama. They also said he took too long to sell vic and wouldn’t give Hamer what he wanted. I backed him on every one of those decisions but the people who argued against me are now saying as I’m critical of a decision to buy a player for next year I have an agenda against Doug😂😂😂😂

People hey, don’t you just love them.
As I’ve already stated he was a completely unknown entity and as such people were obviously suspicious of his motives, but again, I honestly can’t remember everyone slagging him off.
Also If 75% of the fan base we’re saying he’d lost the fans due to season tickets etc, it’s surprising to ‘say the least’ that we went on to sell a record number.
Everyone knew the situation with Hamer & Vic, think most were encouraged by DK’s steadfast approach to both transfers & We’re actually pleasantly surprised by the fees we ended up receiving.

Don’t be stupid, bringing an actual winger in would obviously be better than shoehorning a 17 year old central striker out on the wing.

Of course it would its a ridiculous argument, that said I don't understand why you're all still arguing anyway as its been and gone now. We've got what we've got.

We were discussing potentially bringing in a free agent which is something I think the club should explore.

Those shouting the loudest that we're in the shite because of not bringing in loans are funny.

Hamer left at the start of the season. Called all types of names for not letting us know with enough time to sort out a replacement.

Fast forward less than 6 months. It was revealed he said he wanted out straight after the playoff final. Those same people had a go at him for letting us know ASAP.

On the fees we received. Wasn't going to get much as they only had a year left on their contracts. Didn't want to listen to sense. The rest is history.

I don’t understand either, especially as we weren’t expecting anyone to come in.
Surely it’s better to have Secured the signing of a very good player (even if it’s for the 4 seasons after this one ) than to have secured the signing of nobody.

A free agent that hasn't got a contract? Why haven't they got a contract anywhere? Can you come out with anyone good enough without a contract?

Try naming one available then.

Lots of clubs have been after players. Yet we're special because it would have been easy to do.

What makes you think we didn't try but couldn't bring in anyone good enough?

If we couldn’t find a better backup than Fabio Tavares our recruitment team needs sacking

Give him a call. He will come straight here won't he.....

Saudi Pro league. 18 games 3 goals 1 assist. Can't understand why nobody wants him.
22 apps in the Spanish top division a few seasons ago. He’s not a realistic target anyway but just an example that there are players of decent quality out there.

Decent? 30 and without a club. Attacking midfielder that has 1 assist in 18 games before getting released.

If we had signed him you would have gone off on one for signing someone not good enough.

Gone are the days of bringing in numbers and hoping for the best.

I’d much rather him playing out wide than Tavares/O’Hare/Allen/Andrews etc.

it killed us how? How we doing in the league compared to this time last year?
How did we start this season with having to start all over again?

If you rely on loans it takes a bit of time to get going. Just like it takes a bit of time to get going with new permanent signings. Next season we won't have lost loan signings through the team. So we should get off to a much better start.

I agree that continuity is preferred of course. Just not sure we can say “it killed us”…when im pretty sure we’ve outperformed last season haven’t we? We started shit yes but didnt we start shit last season?

So you would be happy with a player only getting 1 assist for the rest of the season that's supposed to be an attacking midfielder? We have less games left than he took to get that 1 assist.

I'm sorry but I find it very hard to believe.

Seems like you did a Google search on free agent attacking midfielders and he is the best you can find. Simply not good enough.

We sure did. Because all the loans from the previous season went back as usual 😁

Read what I said. I said “if” a player is good enough it’s a decent shout.
If a player has a month off at the end of a season he isn’t going to be match fit. He will have had a holiday and a rest. I haven’t questioned Torps ability in any way. He looks a good player from what we’ve seen.
I say it again, if an unattached player is good enough it’s a decent shout to bring them in until the end of the season. It will be a fairly low cost option and even if they just play 15-20 min at the end of a game to give tired players a rest it could be the difference of a soft tissue injury meaning you lose a player for 6 weeks.

Read what you said? I did. Then I replied. Did you read what I said?

This is getting very boring now. Same thing every season. We get off to a poor start because of changing so many players. I keep saying that we need time to gel and get the players up to speed. But the reply is always the players brought in are shite/waste of money. Then we get a run together. Then it becomes we won't make the playoffs/pull away from a relegation battle depending on which season you would like to nominate.

This season I said I think we will be in the top 6 by the end of January. Of course I was clueless yet again. But our run is so good that we made it into the top 6 even earlier than I thought.

Now it has changed to we won't finish in the top 6 because we might get injuries to our best players and didn't bring in loans to cover what might happen. Yes it might happen. But it might happen to all the sides we have gone past and have now started to put a gap between us and them already.

I give up.

One day people will realise that every transfer window Robins basically says the same thing to manage expectations

Our team was less deep last season and we managed to finish strongly. There’s lots of points to play for and teams around us will drop points.

Besides, even if we don’t make the playoffs in the end, it will be disappointing. Yet, the expectation on MR and the teamis incremental improvement. So this season sets the benchmark.

That Burrows from posh looks quite a player. Alfie Doughty vibes. Hope we go after him in the summer maybe unironically throw Jack Burroughs in the mix to seal the deal.
