of course he will Frank one thing we know - Robins worships at the sisu temple

And I guess you know that? Having completely ‘backed’ him since his return, on his terms!

Marvellous opportunity to make a real go at getting to the Promised Land this season there’s the real possibility of mega rich Newcastle and a Dean Smith inspired Norwich being in the division next season that’s probably spots one and two sewn up before we start, but will sisu go for it January, I doubt it.

The top 2 are dominant this season - the play offs are realistically the only way we’ll ever go up

The owners have taken more money out of the club than they have put in

There seems to be no middle ground - it doesn’t mean they have to chuck millions of pounds loaded against the club

It means a targeted level of investment to try and reap a better return

Robins will also in public be on message - why wouldn’t he?

You could spend £5m - £10m in January. It would guarantee you nothing in terms of promotion, but your balance sheet (wages included) would look decidedly 'iffy'.

Frankly it’s been iffy for a very long time

I get what you are saying G; my main point is that in this division, throwing money to get in the PL is a fools errand, unless you have very deep pockets. As other clubs have found out (Stoke, Bristol City, Reading etc) you can spend £100m plus and still not succeed; indeed (Derby) you can easily catapult the other way.

It’s not really. COVID has changed the dynamic - even a£5 million investment can make a difference

That's how it looks

We’ve ‘gambled’ as you put repeatedly previously on more a occasions than I care to remember and all it’s done is double, triple or quadruple our debt, which is why we are where we are and I rarely if ever recall it paying off. Just my opinion from painful experience.

We haven't gambled anything in the SISU era just made numerous bad decisions. Aside from 2001/02 we've never spent so much time in the top 6 of this league, so frankly what came before is irrelevant. There is a major opportunity to seize here.

With the correct backing this could be our best chance on a top tier return...robins always seems to produce in the January window,SISU back your man & who knows where we can end up.

You absolutely slated his signings last January?
You said Gyökeres is "no better than Baka"?

Where would you invest? Not a loaded question just curious. If they got the chequebook out for 5 million.

I don’t think many felt Gyo was great last season,Matty James however was critical in keeping us up.

.... but at the time weren't you critcising MR saying James was a wasted signing and instead wanted him to spend money on bringing in Gnanduillet or Glen Murray? You were the bedwetter in chief after the last January window. It is funny reading you now lauding MR's acumen in that transfer window :)

Any player that improves our chances of finishing in the top six my preference would be an attacking midfielder we just don’t score enough goals from midfield.
I doubt very much we will buy anyone it would be loans I’m sure

I read on here that Barnsley spent £20m on Dike for a half season loan last season just to make the play offs.

Or not there’s no guarantees
Well dont spend anything then and you stay where you are.
Looking good at the moment but we are starting to get cancelled out.
couple of losses or draws and then all this fun we have had will turn to heartache yet again.
We really need to strenghen up the squad give them some help.
Doesnt need to be Millions of pounds.

Couple of decent loans, which will almost certainly require a fee, is what’s needed. If such a thing is about.

I don't have a particular view, it's more that I think if Robins identifies an opportunity to improve the team to help with a play off push he should be backed within reason. I don't think. It doesn't need to be a permanent signing it can be just revenue to pay wages / or a loan fee if that was what was needed.

Going to be really difficult to upgrade our squad in January. Loans to cover potential injuries and suspensions maybe. We do need more bodies, but PL loans want guaranteed playing time. Maybe some Chelsea reserve would be an upgrade, but who do you drop? Lightweight currently regarding left footers. Goalscorers are going to be way expensive and not easy to find. If we can loan a couple out, think we can get a couple with potential in. SISU going for it, unlikely I fear.

Baka and biamou offer more than Godden on and off the ball. Right before Godden wins us the league. No shock all the people who pick on me don’t have a clue Skyblue1991
